Poor Man's Turbomaster

well this is for all the guys that know how to run a grinder, find nuts and bolts and run a threading die. i got tired of the whopping 3.5 psi of boost the stock GM-3 actuator.

first i started by grinding the crimp off of the canister, then once i got that pried apart and off i ground the little weld off of the end of the spring retainer. after i got the retainer off i took the spring off so i could thread the rod. the die i used for the threading was :

after i got it threaded i went digging for some special nuts, and i found out that those self locking nuts that us farmers use to hold the sections on our swather knives are the exact same thread!

so then i put the stock spring back on the actuator and tightened the nuts down so the spring was really squashed so it put enough presure on the wastegate to keep it closed. that didnt work so i added another small spring inside the stock spring and it works perfect.

heres the finished product:

this thread will work for GM-1 to GM-3 owners. GM-4 owners that want a homebuilt turbomaster consult this thread: https://www.dieselplace.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=274622

gooder? is that even a word? lol. i prefer to keep it threaded instead of welding stuff together. its alot easier for me to do since i have a big huge tap and die kit. one old cast iron kit and some cheap little kit i got a few years ago with metric taps and dies in it.
