Those are glow plug codes. I've had two replaced on mine, one a couple of times. Also had the glow plug module replaced because even when the dealer replaced (under warranty) the same one a couple of times, they replaced the module. When I asked if this was common of the service mgr., he said no, but I think otherwise.

1, 3, 5, and 7 are on the passenger side. 2, 4, 6, and 8 are on the drivers side. Total opposite from a regular GM V8 gasser.

I had #4 replaced a few months ago. The next time one goes I'll be replacing in myself.

it's pretty easy, you can find the glow plugs for roughly 15-20 depending on where you get them from.

fyi to check them you can take an ohm meter and put one lead on the pin of the glow plug and the other on the block. usually the resistance is less than 1 ohm. if the glow plug is bad it will have a much higher ohm reading. I do this just to make sure I have the right cylinder. yes I've replaced the wrong glow plug before....

If it is just glow plugs being out you wouldn't notice any difference at all in engine operation. Only when starting the engine in really cold weather would you see the effects of the glow plugs being bad. How many miles are on your truck? With low miles it would be unusual to have 3 plugs go bad. Dealers in my area cover glow plugs under the 100k warranty. I changed out one myself before I knew about the warranty coverage. Wasn't bad & only spent $15.

I had the P0673 glow plug 3 control circuit code come up today and was wondering if I run some Power Service Diesel Kleen in the tank if that could help? If not I will try to replace it my self. My truck has about 26500 miles on it.
I ordered a new glow plug from Napa and should be here tomorrow so we'll see how it goes from there.

Unfortunetly the diesel kleen won't help. It's just a bad glow plug. It's an easy fix. Your #3 plug is second one back on the passenger side. Just remove the fender liner and it's all right there in front of you. Do yourself a favor, put a little never seize on the threads on the new one.

I agree. I do have a friend that works at a GMC dealership and he says he does a lot of glow plugs. Some people on here say no but he has no reason to lie.

Update, I got the glow plug in quick and easy, the old one came out without a problem. I cleared the code and it hasn't come on yet but we'll see in the morning when it's cold. Truck has 27698 miles with 976.7hrs. I'll try to post some pics.
