Do you have the right "cylinder #3?" It's the second from the front on the passenger side.

ETA, sorry, read it wrong. Yes you have to manually clear the code after changing the plug. It will come back in a few key cycles if you changed the wrong one.

Add me to the list as #1 is bad. I'll probably change it this weekend. Worst part is.........I just turned over 101,000 miles.

Hey my #8 is bad and I bought a replacement part from Autozone, Autolite #1113. The threads are in a different location than the stock one so it will have to sit deeper into the hole. Is this going to be a problem. I have looked up the part number on Autozone's website and it's the correct one and I have tried several other stores and they all appear to be like the autozone one.

I guess I am doing it the hard way because it is a bit of a PIA for me, but then I didn't take off the wheels and inner fenders.

I did what a previous poster said and removed the inner fender. Much better, but the POS Autolite Glow Plug that Autozone stocks is the wrong one. Because threads are higher on the plug you have to sink it deeper into the hole and it won't work. I have an AC Delco on enroute. I don't know why Autozone would carry plug and say its for an LMM. Part number 1113 is not the autolite one you need.

If you didn't see this a label on fan shroud says do not jump start may harm GP module and parts. LBZ has it wanted to tell it so you can look for it on your truck.

I haven't seen any CEL's or codes come up. But I have seen a significant drop in my mpg , that could be due to a bad batch of fuel as well. Just dumped in some BG244K and a new fuel filter, so we'll see if that cures it.
My question is , did anyone notice anything imparticular when the plugs failed ? Massive loss of power , mpg drop , more smoke...? Does it happen right away or is it something that slowly takes place ?
Thanks .
Getting ready to make a big road trip from Denver to Tucson to pick up my new 5th wheel toy hauler. Dont need any of this to happen....!

Glow plugs will only affect cold weather starting and initial warmup. Once the engine is "warm", as in 70+f, you won't notice any problems from a glow plug. Mine went out on a 100 degree day and I replaced all 8 while I was doing it before summer was over, so I have no idea how hard it will start with just one dead in the middle of winter.

If you are having other performance issues as you described, you have something else wrong.
