Grinding noise only in D and R trans getting hot

I just bought a 2005 2500hd lly and it has been doing great until today. A weird grinding noise started happening only in drive and reverse It raised concern as I only just bought the truck and my recent luck with any vehicle I purchase has been terrible. I was on the way to a friends house about 40 minutes away half way there I noticed the trans temp was rising I closely monitored it and soon it was upwards to 250+ I immediately pulled over and waited for the temp to lower and now I am sitting at my grandpas house looking through forums trying to get haven’t found anyone with similar issue so here I am posting. Please anyone with any knowledge on the situation help me. Oh and also while in drive or reverse the speedometer will jump or bounce slightly as if I was moving but the truck isn’t at all. Thanks in advance.
