4l80e towing and speed limiter

hello i have 4l80e tranny im wondering the towing capebilities.
right now i have 285 tiers but use 245 in the winter time. i have an extra gear oil cooler mounted. and a 3.73 axle. how much can i tow or load on the truck bed?


is there usually a speed limiter i 3rd gear at about 55mph/90kmh?

any help appriciated

I don't have a 4l80e anymore but your number sounds about right. I got 60MPH at 3000 RPM. On a 96 you are supposed to keep it on 3rd for towing, so you might be limited there. I have a feeling that if you get on the highway you could probably move to 4th once you are up to speed.

You have a k2500 so you could probably put 1500 lbs or so in the bed. I wouldn't hesitate to tow 6000 with 3.73 gears. Maybe 7500 lbs but thats pushing it. I wouldn't worry about the tranny, but rather the rest of the truck (suspension etc)
