700r4 not shifting

i know it's not in the proper category, but this is the closest i could find. does anyone here know what could be causing a 700r4 to not want to shift out of first?

Check the TV cable from the trans to the throttle to see if it came off.

It smells a little burnt. And now, it will once in a while randomly shift out of first, but i noticed it isn't going into over drive either.

The spool that the TV is controlled by is probably the culprit. It requires removing the valve body to repair. Buy a Transgo shift kit and it includes a new spool to replace the stock sticking spool.
