700r4 problem

hi i have an 86 burb 4x4 the guy i bought the truck from had the trans rebuilt by a tech on the side who stated for the price he is giving him he will not gurantee his work. well any way the truck will shift into od if you are accelerating but as soon as you steady out your speed it shifts down into third if you nail it it will shift back into od what do you think is causing this.

Upshift

Most of theses iisues are TV valve related but in your case it kinda sounds like the VB 3-4 valvetrain has a problem, usually you don't mes with the 3-4 valvetrain or the mtv valvetrain unless you install a shift kit & install something incorrectly. I would call the builder & ask him if he put in a shift kit & if he did ask him which one.

My 82 does does almost exactly the same thing. It's shift into o/d when you start to pull a hill and back into 3rd when it levels out. It's been driving me nuts. I was hoping there was a cheap fix.
