^^^ Thanks guys! ^^^

Ummm... the places and days kinda blur together out on the road... but... yea... I think that was in fact celina. Gonna double check in a second.

Yup... just looked. It was.

Just pulled in at around 1am here in Jeffersonville, OH... eating a pan fried skillet thing from denny's. Better than pizza.

I think of all the things that annoy me about being on the road like this... are the food options. I mean jeez... give us some options other than;
McDonalds
Wendy's
Subway (which is the healthiest option... and what I usually pick of its available)
Pjfresh (pilot flying j house brand crap... pizza... chicken tenders... stuff like that... usually my secondary)
Dennys... which is kinda a hit or miss. It was ok ~so so tonight.
Iron skillet (typically horrible)

I guess my point is that... I wish we had more, better, healthier options....
I mean if you wanna eat crap that's your own choice... I will go hungry before I eat McDonald's. wendys... spicy chicken sandwich. No brainer.

Bleh. Lol. Ramblin...

Find yourself between Indy and Lafayette, PM and you've got a home cooked meal. Farm country and room for a rig.

Safe travels!

East of Columbus, OH.

Picture of the city lights from Columbus.

From eastern Ohio into West Virginia. Boy those mountains are a sight for sore eyes!

Headed to Salem, VA. From there were picking up in Winston-Salem, NC and taking whatever that's gonna be to Calhoun, GA. Making my way back to familiar territory.

The beginning of my shift. Time to take the wheel. Clouds started brewing as I got myself situated.

Went from the beginning of West Virginia to Salem, VA.

As I drove on the clouds above grew worse and worse. If you're familiar with WV you know how dangerous the grades (steep @$$ hills) can be and to make matters worse the weather had grown to unmanageable heights. Making the drive extremely dangerous and treacherous tonight.

Weight: 48,680 lbs
Weather Conditions: Terrible
Road conditions: 5-12% grades, and spotty roads to being with... the majority of my travels tonight took place on US and State Routes, not Interstates.

... at night... and tonight was pitch black.

Needless to say I played it extremely cautious. Mostly 35-55mph all night long. 260 some odd miles.

There was a very VERY bad accident on I 64 tonight. I'm not sure if there were survivors. No idea. Was pretty brutal. I'd normally say "I hope everyone is ok" but deep down I have a feeling some people died tonight.

I'm glad I stopped at the EB rest area on I 64 in between Nitro, WV and the I 77 / 64 interchange. I stopped to wait the worst of the weather out.... it was getting to where I couldn't see.

It was all bad....

On the brighter side of things... I arrived here in Salem, VA quite intact. Safely. Happy about that. My father slept like a baby the whole drive.

No parking at the Kroger Distribution Center. That's ok. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve just yet...

No parking? Well... make a parking spot! Like a boss. They dont teach you driver side and blindside docking in schools anymore.

The DOT removed 5 or 6 (I honestly forget) important backing maneuvers from the driving test. I think you only need to know 3 out of a total of 8 or 9 these days. Straight back, dock switch and driver side parallel I believe. No blindside or driver side dock. Likely the two most important maneuvers you can learn. Those set you up to learn the all important counter clockwise and clockwise clock hand. Good ways to get into and out of tight situations.

No wonder drivers these days suck. That's what happens when you lower the bar of expectations. All they can do is park in a straight line.

Anyway, I'll post the highlights and honorable mentions of the week later today. Gonna get some much desired sleep.

And some lightning I caught just before I started driving last night.

Guess that's about it for now... headed to Winston-Salem and then to Calhoun.

If you are ever back in Decatur AL there is a BBQ place that is awesome. I will post the name once I can remember it. I drive many of the same roads you drive and recognized several.
On Edit: I am thinking of buying a used class 8 and remove the tag axle and 5th wheel and convert it into a RV puller.

Were headed to Calhoun now. Maybe well run across each other!

I'm never adverse to meeting fellow members. I actually encourage it.

As for the class 8 weekend road warrior, I'd shoot for a medium duty because you'll save alot in fuel costs vs weight being pulled. Something like my c60 or a newer kodiak / top kick would be better suited. You'd save alot of $$$ and it would be much more maneuverable with the ability to adhere to multiple conditions when pulling an rv cross country for camping ... etc..

A short stop back home for a day. Got to tinker on my 60 a bit. That was a nice treat.

Back on the road tonight. Went back to Calhoun, GA to pick up a trailer full of... BEER! and were taking it to... somewheresville, PA. Here in Wytheville, VA halfway thru the trip. Delievers tomorrow night at 23:00. Joy. Weird time for a delivery.

Pic#1 - My 76 c60 project (hello beautiful)
#2,3 & 4 - Mountians of coca cola, beer and other drinks... galore. Just... wow! Coca Cola is by far my favorite soda... and of course Heineken and Yuengling are my favorite beers. Currently carrying Michelob... meh.

... but nevertheless still pretty cool.

Edit: Just to clarify the magnitude of the warehouse and size of the stacks. Each stack (pallet) is 10-12ftx7.5-8 feet (roughly) two side by side fits snugly in a dry van (typical semi trailer)... no room to spare. You couldn't fit a sheet of paper in between the walls and ceiling and the pallets.

Huge. Lots of cans. Crazy. So each stack is roughly 30-36ft tall. Nutz.
