NASCAR finale

Looking at the "final four" this year is like the presidential election was. I have to choose the one I dislike the least. Gonna pull for Carl Edwards for the cup.
Really gonna miss seeing Smoke on the track next year. I had Harvick and Truex Jr in my final four!

I have a lot of respect for all those guys. These guys race their heart out, past champs and all. Even with all the best equipment and luck, there is still a lot of driver skills involved. Year after year if you are in the top ten finishers you are doing something right.
Maybe it will be Carl's year and what a back flip!

We were really pulling for Carl and then the big wreck hit. He is a class act that many people today can learn from. The way he conducted himself after the wreck was outstanding and the mark of a true gentleman. Our number 2 pick was Johnson. If it were not for the wreck that took out Carl, Johnson would have never had a chance. As it stands today he is now a 7 time champion.

Blocking faster cars should not be allowed till the last two laps. It seem when it goes wrong it takes out a bunch of really good cars that deserve better. The team blocking should replace all those that crashed. Nascar has to many rules now and it's not like the good ole days.

The blocking occurred on the Final restart. The 22 wasn't a "faster" car that was blocked. The 19 had outperformed all the finalists up to that point. The only thing the 22 had done was gain spots on restarts by guessing. Everyone knew he was going to try to go low, the 19 had to protect his spot into turn 1, to maintain his lead. The stupid chase format created that scenario

fwiw I am glad Jimmy got his 7th title. I never pulled for him or anything as JG was the driver I always pulled for from the very start. But all in all I ma a loyal Hendrick fan...

It was announced that the 22 team had worked on restarts all week long. There is a lot that goes into a good restart and if you get a great restart it can really put you out front in the good clean air. If you watched and listened to the audio on the inboard camera of the 22 he actually got off the throttle trying to give Edwards a little room, but it was not enough. I think that any of the drivers can and do lay back a little so they can get that running start. Sometimes it work and sometimes it can start a wreck. The Lagonna car was not my pick, but that kid has been doing his homework on restarts.
As I indicated earlier, I have a lot of respect for most all those guys and I can't help but give Johnson a big thumbs up on his 7th championship. My first Nascar race was at Bryan TX in 1969. Marty Robbins drove in that race.

Ever go to TMS? The wife and I were season ticket holders from 1999 to 2003. We had a horse ranch 15 miles from that track.

I'm glad Jimmy won. I was pulling for Kyle and I wasn't sure why he restarted so far back but it is what it is. It was bound to happen and I'm glad Jimmy won at Miami for his 7th championship. I'm sure plenty of people assumed it's rigged even with the number of changes they've made since Jimmy started winning. I'm not a fan of his but I don't have bad feelings about him or his team.
