state inspection

Don't have emissions testing where I am, but my inspection is due next month. I have HID's which take awhile to warm up, so I was wondering if I should take em out? Do they turn on the highs, or do they flash em? BTW, I am in rural Texas.

I'm also in rural Texas, all they do here is make sure both headlights work in lowbeam only, they've never checked the highbeams. They don't seem concerned about how bright they are or if they're aimed correctly.

I was just curious because when they inspected our 97 Burban, they wouldn't pass us because the side marker lights were out. They were burnt out for years and looked exactly like reflectors. (The top ones were). I didnt even know they were even lights.

Also forgot to ask, I have a 6 month old crack that was about 6 inches long, and the other day it spread about 8-12 inches. Its right in fron of the drivers seat towards the top of the windshield. What is the max legal limit?

they're proly going to say something about a crack. a chip, doubtful, but a crack is a safety concern in my eyes. get a hold of your insurance company, might be 100% covered.

I have liability only on the truck. I believe it was because the value wasn't gonna be much if the truck was totaled. If I added full coverage, would they have to inspect the truck?

I also was just thinking about getting it inspected at a small place and if they failed me I'll just replace it. There is alot of wind noise from this windshield as it was replaced once, and it also has a glue trail behind the rearview mirror. IDK if it was from the stress of the cracks or what...

Maybe from where you are from, but here in TX, cracks don't matter anymore for a regular state inspection. Commercial inspection, yes it would fail, but regular passenger car/truck, it's fine.

All lights have to work, high beam and low beam, but there is nothing on intensity. You could explain to them that it takes a while, but if you want to play it safe, just reinstall the stock stuff.
