Phoenix Metro Area?

Anyone from the area familiar with the west side of town? I've heard its a little rough. Lookin at a place around 67th and Bethany. I still have plenty of time to decide. I know the further out west I go would be better but me and my roommate are on a budget and we gotta be about equal distances from school.

It is not a bad area I wouldn't be afraid to live there. The only real Ghetto in Phoenix is Right off the I-17/60 but there are robberies and murders committed in almost every area of the valley it goes with the territory of being the 5th largest city in the U.S.

West side is ghetto, you might as well move to L.A.

East side is where its at.

I agree. If you have to live on the west side or as we say "the avenues" then try and get as far North West as possible.

House or apartment?

Not a good area. The spot where you are talking might be, but the neighboring community isn't. Eventually you will be effected one way or another. 67th-75th-83rd area above Cactus you should be ok as the "wave" hasn't made it up that far yet.

Look into the Arrowhead area. (Roughly 75th to 83rd avenue around Bell road. You will be close to the 101 loop, you can go south on the loop to Avondale and your buddy can go north/east on it to MMI. Pretty good safe areas around there along with alot of Restaurants, bars, things to do and the Arrowhead Mall is there as well.

Try to stay as far as possible away from desert sky mall! You may as well be in tijuana.

I work in Glendale, I won't work out there at night without a police escort to watch my back. That genral area is plagued with drugs and dealers. Most apartments in the 59 Ave to 71 Ave between Bethany Home and Glendale have high drug traffic. You need to go North of Peoria to be out of the drug zone. Look at the local Police reaports of the Area you are looking to rent from before making a decision. Last apartment buddy lived in 43 ave and Peoria Fire station 53 had dealer across way dealing at all hours of night. JMHO
