Old Forge snowmobiling

Just wanted to say a huge thankyou to the folks at the Eagle Bay Yamaha dealership for their help on Sunday when my sled broke down on the trail. They diagnosed it almost immediately {looks like a hole in the 1 piston that Polaris is blaming on warm weather[25*] riding},gave me a 12 mile ride in the owner's Dmax truck back to Old Forge to get my truck and trailer, then used their forklift to put my sled on the trailer--all at no charge.Real nice people--I convinced the owner to become a member here--he'll probably be posting soon---real knowledgeable guy on both trucks and of course sleds.

It is sure nice when people help you out when you need it the most huh? Make sure you pass it on, and help someone else down the road.

I agree with Bowtie...buy a Cat.

I've been out to Old forge and didn't really feel like it was a very Snowmobiler friendly town. Maybe b/c I was an outta towner! Stayed up by Sweetwater reservoir one night and it was a lot better. But anyway. Good to hear there are some good people out there to help out. It was the same way up in the UP after christmas. A couple guys on our trip had some problems(yamaha and cat) and the dealers were very good to them and didn't rape them on the labor charge.

Don't know yet--right now I'm just chillin here before I call my dealer and then probably the Polaris factory because I know what BS will come out the mouth of their service mgr. Just because my GF just spent $250 on my new Polaris garbs, does not mean by any stretch that I will stay a Polaris fan.A 3 year old sled with only 900 miles on her should not do this. The Yamaha mechanic told me Polaris still does not have a warning light for an engine that's starting to over-heat on an air-cooled sled.I've heard a lot of good about Yamaha--might have to switch to one with a 4 stroker---my ears are starting to hurt from that chain-saw whining with my 2 stroke.

I love the smell of two stroke smoke in the morning.

Ride behind a Ski-doo and you'll smell like 10 2-strokes!

2-Strokes and diesel smoke!

Ride Ski-Doo 2 strokes, that way you are always in the front and all you smell is the clean winter air. Lighter sleds are the only way to go for mountain riding and even though 4 strokes are getting better the weight penalty is still pretty high.
