Ok guys, a little help. I have looked at the Snow stage 3 and their stage 3mpg max. I have also looked at the Labonte stage 3, and I cannot figure out which one would be the better of three. Price and performance wise. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
labonte stage three is way cheaper than snow comes with a lcd touch screen, works exc and easy to use and set up. The customer support is there as well
The DIS-S3 system out perform the snow do to the proactive injection algorithm in the DIS-S3. The DIS-S3 calculates the amount of diesel going into the engine to spray the right amount of mix. while snow is reactive based on EGTs and simply defines a injection curve between start and full points (same as our simple set and forget Stage II controllers)
If you liked the DIS-S3 wait until you see what we have done with the soon to be released S4 system.

Interesting, and when will the stage 4 be out? I am a little strapped for funds since my cp3 pump went out. I may be better off and wait to get the stage 4. Thanks for the info as well!
I would have to agree with you since labonte said in another thread that the kit I have was based off there ve or vc 100 controller kit and its what I have on my 06 LBZ duramax and love it!!!!
The release of the S4 meth injection system is just around the corner. With the S4 we have combined our S3 system, Injection Flow Monitoring and now EGT into one simple to install box. The combination of the fluid flow monitor now brings the benefit of self calibration to the S4, real time fluid level indication and advance diagnostics to let you know if anything is out of spec.
Attached are some pics of one of the recent installs on a CAT 7 waste management truck. We will have Duramax install pics posted shortly, but the service truck was chosen as a test platform due to the harsh environment it is operated in. Consistent stop and go, aggressive operator use, and EMI (electrical magnetic interference) from other systems and radio communications. Proven in this environment the S4 will deliver the most reliable performance of any system on the market.
I'm waiting too. Their web site says the S3 is no longer available and is replaced by the S4 that is due out in June. It's almost August and the S4 isn't listed.
I'm waiting - patiently - here - waiting. I wanna see it before I make a decision. I'm going to have 3 holes in an intake elbow that will need something to put in there!
I'm also checking the website everyday and am waiting to see the new product before I make a decision. I like the concept of the Snow max-mpg, hoping that this new Labonte system can improve highway mpg.
That's where I balked on Snow. I have a used Stage 2 that I was going to install, then decided to go new. I want an increase in power and lower EGTs so I can add fuel and make more power. If an increase in MPG is a byproduct, that's great. I don't want an MPG-improver that gives me a little more power as a byproduct. I can't figure out if the MPG-MAX will do what I want, so I looked at Labonte and saw that currently there is nothing available.
what happens if you run out of water meth in your tank? any danger of hurting engine? can a person just turn it off with a switch when they dont want it on?
If you run out of fluid you are just back to regular performance, no harm to engine or system, unless you are getting very high EGTs. Then just keep you foot out of the throttle. Water Methanol injection on a diesel is not like a gasoline engine. On a gasoline engine you can go lean based on tune and then will get pre-ignition if you run out of fluid.
On a diesel, the injection helps lower temps and get a more complete burn of your existing diesel fuel.
looks like i will be going with labonte when the s4 comes out, with between the rails tank, I will run it mostly when towing but maybe when i get my tranny I might run to keep egt's down and extra performance, where do you guys buy meth from?
I'm using -20 windshield washer fluid it comes in at 33% methanol IIRC. I think the 0 degree stuff is 25 or so. You can look it up on the brand of fluids website, should have the percentage of methanol located somewhere in the MSDS sheets (or in this case pdf). Only use the blue stuff as the others have detergents and whatnot that you don't want to be injecting. The blue is just a dye which is not going to hurt anything.
There are other sources available, but the washer fluid is inexpensive and can be found anywhere. Also if you're looking for more cooling than any performance gains you can just use distilled water found at the grocery store super cheap and will offer even more cooling than a methanol mix, but you don't get that extra kick that you would with the meth because you are now lacking the fuel.
