your talking two totally different things. water/meth will give you a small performance boost but is mainly used to keep things cool . nitrous is all about performance. depends on what your truck is used for. towing and everyday hot rodding get water/meth. drag racing do nitrous. if your going nitrous look at the zex kits. very reasonably priced and nice simple kit.
water/meth is the way to go if your looking for the safest route, I have a zex nitrous kit but ive yet to install it. (I cant afford to blow a head gasket)
not sure what meth kit you are looking at, but do some more reading on the hp gains of meth in here. Most say it depends on the engine tune you run. I dynoed mine with and without meth, but on a stock tune and saw 102 hp at the wheels
Dunno about prices around your area but last I looked its about 4 dollars per pound of nitrous and a bit more than 2 dollars a gallon for 100% meth. One 10 pound bottle of nitrous will last a night at the track at best and a 50-50 water/meth mix will last a lot longer. Your talking the difference between 40$ or 2$ for a night at the track..... more or less.
does your truck smoke much at full load? If it does not, then nitrous will not do much for you, as it is simply used to oxidize any unburned fuel. If your truck is already burning most or all of the available fuel (IE not much or no smoke at full load) then nitrous is out. Water/meth is an interesting option, as you can control the HP boost by the amount of meth you mix into the water. all the way down to almost no boost, by running straight water, up to a fairly substantial boost with a 50/50 mix.
When we were dynoing different mixtures of meth and water, pure water and 30-70 smoked about the same, both were kind of black hazy. Drained the tank and put in 100% meth, truck smoked blacker and more in volume than I have ever seen it do. My current set up is starving for fuel right now.
