I am a bit confused here my nitrous kit says this below for a zex pro street diesel kit. Now guys at the track are saying that on diesels these jet sizes do not put out the power quoted in this manual. One diesel performance shop owner who seems to know his stuff says that the pill size usually equals the hp or an 88 pill would be around 88hp.
I ran a 12.4 at 109 on the 74 shot one guy says that the mph on my run should equal about a 80 shot? Besides hitting the dyno how do I know? Thanks in advance.

Shots are meaningless on a diesel application as diesels have no fixed AF ratio like a gasser. You can determine a horsepower shot on a gasser because you match a fuel pill to a nitrous pill. On a diesel you only have the nitrous pill and you rely on your tuning to bring up the fueling.
Without the extra smoke, a bigger and bigger pill won't make more power, it will actually slow you down as the extra air from the nitrous won't be any benefit.
The only way to determine power gains mapped to a pill size on your truck is to use your race tune on the dyno and make passes on the dyno using different pills. Try to keep the bottle pressure consistent and have a good fill. You will then have a map for your truck that you can use at the track.
I run two jets on my truck that I would tune at the track for varying conditions. It just takes time, trial and error and experience to determine what pills will work best for your truck.
On mine, a .90 combined with a .40 jet was good for just under 300 ponies.
Thanks for the reply. I am at around 500 at the wheels on motor. With the big tune (heavy smoke) what pill size do you guess would be close to a 100 shot? I am thinking the 94 pill. I do plan on dynoing it just dont want to be running a pill that puts me over 600hp.
There are a bunch of variables at play still than just the pill. How big are your nitrous lines? How big is your solenoid? What size bottle and feed line to the solenoid? What pressure are you running typically on your bottle?
Without knowing those things it is tough to say. The pill is the final restriction in the system but even if you put a .100 pill in and the line and solenoid can only flow say a .040 worth it won't do you any good.
On my setup usually I could tune in an extra 100 horsepower using anywhere from a .040 to a .060 pill.
