EFI live tune and tow/haul mode

Hello all,
I recently put an Edge CTS with the six "standard" EFI tunes in my truck. If I need to tow heavy, which is tune #4, should I still engage the tow/haul mode, or is that taken care of by the tune?
Thanks
Steve

There are no "standard EFI tunes". Most likely, though, you need to manually activate tow/haul. Try it both ways, you'll not have any problem distinguishing between when tow/haul is off or on.

And what 6 standard tunes? EFILIVE only offers up to 5. Or do you not have EFILIVE?

Oops - yep it's 5, not 6.
They are listed as:
1. Optimized stock
2. Heavy tow
3. Light tow
4. 70 HP
5. 90 HP

Thanks
Steve

Tow/haul is Allison, tunes are Duramax. Different systems.
The only thing they really have in common is engine rpm, and throttle position, other then that they both live in their own worlds.

Well I guess it depends on who does your tunes for you. The tow/haul mode can be used by the tuner to activate turbo braking. Yes the Tow/Haul button is what communicates with your TCM. The tow/haul mode changes shift points in the transmission and also locks the torque converter up after 2nd gears. It also is used to slow the vehicle down..

Tow/haul activates the factory turbo braking, most tuners turbo braking is simple rpm & throttle position = close turbo vanes (activate brake). Anything that raises rpm's into that range without the throttle will activate it - manual downshifting or excessive speed. The factory setup will downshift if speed climbs in cruise, or when pressing the foot brake.
