Part 5 - Basic of adding tunes to DSP tune, V8 new features, Finding more help.
Part 6 - Reading and Flashing with V7.5 Tune app and V8 EFILive Tune and Scan app.

Basic setup for computer to do tuning and scanning.
Firmware and bootblock updating of the Flashscan V2.
Stand Alone DTC Scanning
Stand Alone Black Box Logging (BBL)
Stand Alone Black Box Reading (BBR)
Stand Alone Black Box Flashing (BBF)
Injector GPM setup on new ECMs
DVT Controls
Splash Screens
And more more more now and to come.

Ok this is what I have done to get mine all setup. The following is limits and what to install at this current
time of creation of this help doc. 8-5-2011. Newer version may exist and use that. Install both versions of
software before doing any of the other items below.

Install EFILive V7.5.
This is your Scanning and Tuning Apps. You will want to get the latest Public beta release of this software and
it can be found here. http://www.efilive.com . Look under Downloads > Download Software. Once Installed you will
want to go to your Start Menu > All Programs > EFILive > V7.5 > Tools > Check for new updates.
Related files installed: EFILive_Tune.exe and EFILive_Scan.exe

Install EFILive V8.
This contains the tools needed to do BBL, BBR, updating the Flashscan V2 Firmware and Bootblock to offer the
many times mention in this doc. Again you will want to get the latest Public beta release of this software and
it can be found here. http://www.efilive.com . Look under Downloads > Download Software. Once Installed you
will want to go to your Start Menu > All Programs > EFILive > V7.5 > Tools > Check for new updates.
Related files installed: ScanAndTune.exe and EFILive Explorer.exe

Please Read the following.
This is in the follow version this doc is based on and some docs suggested to be read based on these version
at this time of Sept-19-2010.
EFILive V7.5.7 Build 170 (July 03, 2011)
EFILIve V8.1.2 Build 160 (July 03, 2011
Firmware V2.07.14 (July 03, 2011)
Bootblock V2.07.02 (Apr 03, 2011)
Please, please read this document: http://download.efilive.com/Software...%20EFILive.pdf

SD Card Setup and Limits.
* First get an SD Card. I got a 512meg but the maximum is 2gb due to sd standard on the Flashscan V2.
* Note: SD card needs to be a plain SD card not an SDHC card. SDHC cards will not work.

************************************************

Update firmware and bootblock.
This will give you DVT controls for EFILive Scan, BBR, BBL, BBF, LBZ and LMM DSP2 and DSP5 support, as well
being fully updated. Many of these items requires additional setup to function. Many other things supported
but this doc with only pertain to the Duramax gen 1st through 4th. (LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM).
* Download and Read this file before proceding and determine the Firmware version.
http://forum.efilive.com/attachment....6&d=1229650736

Install the latest Bootblock and Firmware.
* Plug the FlashScan V2 into the computer through USB interface.
* Open ScanAndTune.exe app that was installed from the V8 software.
* Once opened you will see a two icons in the lower right window. First one is the Autocal and the other is
the FlashScan V2. Click on the FlashScan V2 image that looks like yours. It will check mark Green
* Now in the lower right corner of the Windows Desktop Taskbar is the image of the FlashScan V2. * Click on
the EFILive Control Panel icon. It may be hidden depending on Windows settings.
* Click the F6 Firmware and hit the Refresh button in the lower right corner.
Bootblock first.
* If it says Bootblock version is OK then it is updated based on the V8 software at the time.
* If it says there is an update click the Update Bootblock button.
* Wait till it finishes the update.
* Once finished the Flashscan V2 will be in Dead Poll status. This does not take long and you be asked to
update the Firmware next.
Next Firmware.
* If it says Firmware version is OK then it is updated based on the V8 software at the time.
* If it says there is an update click the Update Firmware button.
* Wait till it finishes the update. May take some time.

Once firmware and bootblock update are done close EFILive Control Panel and ScanAndTune App and disconnect
the FlashScan V2.

Misc info on updating with really old bootblock.
Now there is a tool under the Start Menu > EFILive > 7.5 > EFILive Update Programmer. This is for only those
with a really old Flashscan V2 that has not been updated with a bootblock version of 2.04.xx. Use this only
if yours is that old to update to the 2.05 bootblock. Once done goto and do the in the Bootblock first to
update to the 2.07.02 at this time and then the firmware.

Some other things to note in the EFILive Control Panel.
You will see LCD Capture F10. Here you can capture the current screen on the Flashscan V2 to post any data you
may need to show someone in future post. Also many other diagtostics and Setup options but usually the defaults
work unless a bugging USB interface.

Configure SD Card for the FlashScan V2.
* Connect Flashscan V2 to the USB port.
* On the FlashScan V2 itself do the following.
* Insert and format the card on the V2 itself. Note the info above on SD Card Limits
* Select F4 Options > F2 File system > F3 Format File System. Follow the rest out from there.
* Confirm SD Card Info from Select F4 Options > F2 File system > F1 SD Card Info. If it looks good then great.

Set Time and Date.
* Open EFILive Explorer app.
* Select F10 Device Settings
* Configure date and time.
* Then hit the Set Now button.
* Close EFILIve Explorer. More on it for later uses.

Ok FlashScan V2 is up to date and ready to be setup for BBL, BBR, BBF, and other options.

Understanding the difference between Cal and Full Flash plus Reading tunes.
A Cal Flash is the process of writing to the ECM just the Calibration portion of a tune. This means the items
you see in the different tables and options is the calibration.

A Full Flash is the process of writing the tune to ECM which is everything that is not changable by EFILive
and all the Calibration changes. This takes longer to write than a Cal Flash.

When to use the Full Flash is when you write a tune that is not the same OS version as the current tune version
on the vehicle now. Also Full Flash is used when you make the first write of a DSP2 or DSP5 tune. After that
all you need to do is a Cal Flash if you just make changes. But a Full Flash will be needed if you return to a
single non DSp tune.

Below are info about reading tunes but here I just want to mention that DSP2 and DSP5 tunes cannot be read from
ECM. Only the writing of DSP tunes is possible. So if you purchased an ECM tune from a tuner it would be nice
for the tuner to email you a copy of the tune if the ECM is not locked. Also locked ECM can not be read even for
single tunes. Your only option if not able to restore the tune from a hendheld boxed tuner if that was how it was
tuned is to overwrite the tune with full flash option. Also EFILive has the ability to locked the ECM as well
since some tuners do not wish for others to have access to their work. most good well know tuners for Diesel
engines leave it open but it all depends on the tuner and of course if it is a DSP it cannot be read out.

Part 2

Updated on 8-25-2011

Part 1 - Updating the Firmware and Bootblock, SD Card, Reading, Cal and Full Flash differences and basic info.
Part 2 - Black Box Logging, Black Box Reading, and Black Box Flashing.
Part 3 - Switch Tuning (LB7 and LLY Bosch only), DTC Code Reader, DVT Controls, Basic DSP2 and DSP5.
Part 4 - Splash Screen, EFILive Scan app, New ECM, Basic Scripting, other options
Part 5 - Basic of adding tunes to DSP tune, V8 new features, Finding more help.
Part 6 - Reading and Flashing with V7.5 Tune app and V8 EFILive Tune and Scan app.

Now to setup and make use of the Flashscan V2 to its full potention.

Setup Black Box Logging (BBL).
* Open ScanAndTune app
* Select F5 BBX.

ScanAndTune app comes with a preconfigured PID Menu Item List. I don't recall exact which ones at this time.
But if your ECM is listed then you can click on it and see the list of preconfigured PIDS in the Selected
PIDs box. If that looks good then continue to the program section here in the doc. If you wish you can add
or remove what you want. To add select the ones in the Available PID box list and the <-- arrow to add to
the Selected PIDs box list.

If you need to add a different ECM, PCM, or TCM you can do the following.
* You can right click on any of the PID Menu Items that is present or check the next open box next to any of
the Unused and right click to select Properties.
* Once you select the properties you need to select First Module. Select ECM, PCM, TCM module you have. You
can add a Second Module which usually be the Allsion version you have if you wish to view PIDs off the TCM
at the same time.
* Now create a name in the Caption 1 and use Caption 2 if you wish.
* The Hotkey option sets that PID menu Item to one of the F1 to F4 keys on the Flashscan V2. Set it to one
if you wish.
* Select OK.

Add the PIDs.
* Now highlight the PID Menu Item you wish to edit. Select from the Available PIDs box the PIDs you wish to
add based on the ECM, PCM, and TCM module you selected. They will appear in the Selected PIDs box.
* Now once you created all the needed PIDS there is some options for some. All PIDs are in Metric format so
if you wish to see them in a different format then you right click on each PID in the Selected PIDs list and
select PID Properties. You will see Custom PID properties section and a down arrow box labeled Quick Select.
Click it and select the format option you wish to see.
* Now all PIDS for the given PID Menu Item have been selected and configured as you wish so lets progam them
to the FlashScan V2.

Hotkeys.
Hotkeys F1 through F4 can be assigned to any one of the 32 availabe PID Menu Items you create in that box.
Also you can select the PID Menu Item and use the arrows to the right to move it up or down in the list so
what you see here is what you see on the FlashScan V2.

Program PID list to the FlashScan V2.
* Just hit the Program button. It will start writing the options.txt file plus all needed *.pmm files for the
PID Menu Items.

Note: If this is the first time programming for BBL.
With default options.txt file with the V8 software the file is more than 100% in size. To correct this you
will need to go under the F3: Tune on the left side of the screen. Once in there unselect the ECM, PCM, and
TCM you will not be reading and tuning directly from the Flashscan V2. Now you can go back to F2: Scan and
program the Flashscan V2 with the contents of the options.txt file that is generated from the configuration
of the varies items in the Scan And Tune V8 app.

Now your ready to try out the BBL.
* Start Truck
* Plug it into the trucks OBDII port.
* Select F1 Select PIDs
* Find the one you created and select OK.
* Once it oks the PID list and comes back hit the Cancel/Back button to get to the main menu.
* Select F2 Scan
* F1 Data Logging
* Then F1 to record the data and view at the same time. or F2 just to view the PIDs data
* Press Cancel/Back button to stop logging and write it automatically if you did F1 Record.
Note: Now you may notice your PID info is still metric even though you select other format
for the selected PIDs. press the Enter button on the FlashScan v2 to toggle between the metric and other
format view option. It will always default to the Metric unless you make a change on the FlashScan V2.

Set the FlashScan to default to display other format PID data.
* Open ScanAndTune app.
* Select F6 Device Settings.
* Press Read button first.
* Goto F3 Display tab.
* Check the custom option in the Units section.
* While here you can make some other changes too.
* Once set hit the Program button and wait till it finishes.

Set the Flashscan V2 to pre start to last used selected PID Menu Item.
* Open ScanAndTune app.
* Press the F6 Devices and Then F5 Options.
* Check the box next to - At start-up, automatically re-select the most recently used PID list. Otherwise if
not slected you must always press F1 Select PIDs and select the one you wish to use in stand-alone mode of
Black Box Logging.

While under the Device Settings check through other optins.
* Once done hit the Program button to write to the FlashScan V2.

************************************************

Lets setup Black Box Reading BBR.
* Open ScanAndTune app.
* Select F5 BBX.
* At the left select F3 Tune.
* I beleive it may have already configured it with all the ECM, PCM, and TCM modules that can be currently
read by the FlashScan V2 without being connectted to a computer.
* But if it is not setup you can go through there and check the box and do a right click properties and select
controller module and name it much like the PID menu creation.
* Once setup hit the Program button.

Lets try it out.
* Turn ignition to On position. Not Accessory. Must be in the position if driving the truck but the engine
not running.
* Plug the Flashscan V2 into the ODBII port.
* select F2 Tune Tool.
* Select F1 Tuning.
* Select F1 Read Tune
* Select the controller you are wanting to read from and wait till finished. It will save the file to the SD Card.
* Once done you unplug the FlashScan V2.
* Now two ways to get the tune off the FlashScan V2. You can take the SD Card out of the FlashScan V2 and put
it in a card reader to your computer and open the SD Card drive and goto EFILive > Scan and get the file there.
Or plug your FlashScan V2 into the USB and open EFILive Explorer and goto the F3 Data Files tab and then copy
and paste the saved tune from EFILive > Scan. Or drag and drop onto desktop or where you wish.
* Now you load the tune into the EFILive_Tune software.

Misc info on BBR.
It will be saved with the extension *.ctd and will be a bigger file than if you used EFIlive to download the
tune. Reason is the Flashscan V2 lacks the power to do compression like the computer software can. But EFILive
is in the works on a different compression options.

************************************************

Lets setup Black Box Flashing BBF. Note: Not all Modules support BBF
at this time.
* Open ScanAndTune app. ( The following is the same as setting up for BBR )
* Select F5 BBX.

* First you need your tuned saved as *.ctd type from the EFILive Tune app and copied to the SD Card.
* Turn ignition to On position. Not Accessory. Must be in the position if driving the truck but the engine
not running.
* Plug the Flashscan V2 into the ODBII port.
* select F2 Tune Tool.
* Select F1 Tuning

Now you have two options here F2 for Program Cal and F3 for Program Full
* Select F2 Program Cal if you are flashing the same OS version that is on the vehicle.
* Select F3 Program Full if you are gonna flash a different OS of a tune that is currently on the vehicle or
Flash a DSP2 or DSP5 tune.
* Select the controller you are wanting to write to and wait till finished.
* Once done you unplug the FlashScan V2.

Now for fun you can change the FlashScan V2 Splash Screen you see on booting when powering of the FlashScan V2.
To do so follow this.
* Open EFILive Explorer app and select F11 Splash tab.
* Press the Browse button and select the image you want on the Flashscan V2.
Note:Image requirement is it is 128 x 64 black and white monochrome bitmap. File size is
1.06meg and image extension is *.bmp.
* Default images from EFILive are in C:\Program Files\EFILive\V8\Splash Screens.
* Once you find it and is in the File Name: box press Install Image button.
* To see if it worked press Display Image. It should display on the Flashscan V2. Sometimes if you do a lot
you may need to unplug and reconnect the USB cable to the computer see the image flash on the Flashscan V2.
* Get image pulls the one on the flashscan V2.
* Also the MSD DashHawk II uses the exact same size image so I use mine on both or you may find something you
like for a DashHawk II unit from MSD forums. http://www.msdignition.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=24
* Link to MSD DashHawk Forum custom splash screens. Requires account setup on their forum to view.
http://www.msdignition.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9224
* You can make your own. Here is mine.

************************************************

New Replacement ECM setup.
* Install your new ECM in place
* Start up computer and plug Flashscan V2 into USB and into OBDII port.
* Once the Flashscan V2 is mounted open either V7.5 Tune app or V8 EFILive Scan and Tune app.
* Full flash your tune to the new ECM like you would depending on your choice of software.

I have never tried this but believe one can even do this in stand-alone mode right from the Flashscan
selecting full flash mode and the tune you will flash.

************************************************

New Replacement ECM setup on LMM (The following not needed on LB7, LLY, or LBZ).
After you get the new ECM loaded with a tune you will need to do program GPH Injector Flowrate.
* Plug the FlashScan V2 into OBDII port.
* Select the F2 Tune Tool.
* Select the F2 Injectors.
* Select the F1 Read GPM Inject.
* Select the F4 Prog ECM Inject.
* Then you will more than likely need to clear DTC codes. Check the Setup Code Reader DTC code reader section
for help on that.

************************************************

Using the EFILive_Scan.exe app to check PIDs.
* Plug the Flashscan into the USB of the computer.
* Plug into the OBDII port.
* Start vehicle up.
* Open EFILive_Scan app.
* Select File > Select Controller and select the controller you are connecting to.
* Hit the Green dot in the upper left corner.
* Then goto the F8 tab and select the PIDs you wish to monitor.
* If for some reason they did not validate then hit Info > Validate PIDs.
* After you select all the PIDs then goto F9 tab.
* Hit the Yellow lite icon at the bottom to start reading the data off the OBDII port.
* Hit the Red lite icon if you wish to record the data.
* Once all done hit the Red button to stop connection.
* Save the log file.

************************************************

Scripting

Running a script on your stock OS tune.
* Open EFILive_Tune.exe app
* Open a copy of your stock tune. ( Always use a copy of it so as not to mess up if something goes wrong. )
* If you know the script is set for Imperial values then Select Edit > Configure Display Units and Hit the
All button Then Imperial.
* If you know the script is Metric then the same except select Metric.
* Select Edit > Run Script.
* Hit the Open button and select the script.
* Hit the Run button.
* Do a File > Save As for the new scripted tune with a new name
* I would close EFILive_Tune and reopen and reload the new scripted tune.
* Then you can do a Standard Cal Flash.

Want to use a tune from a different OS version.
OK, you got a a tune from someone or from a library for the same generation Duramax but the OS
is different. You have a couple of choices. You can Flash that using the Full Flash option to
upload that tune into your ECM. Second option is do a scripting process. Lets do option 2.

What you will need.
1. the new tune you wish to use.
2. Stock tune of what your truck has.
3. Stock tune of the matching OS version of the new tune you wish to use.
You can find that here possible. https://www.dieselplace.com/forum/loc...ks.php?catid=1

Example: Say your running this OS 12603624. You have a new tune but it is OS 12606128. So you will
need a stock tune of OS 12606128 and your stock tune of OS 12603624 and the new tune you wish to use.

* Open EFILive_Tune.exe app
* Open the stock tune of the OS version of the new tune.
* Now to load the tune you wish to use.
* Select File > Load Alternate Calibration for Comparison F11.
* Now select File > Display Calibration Difference Summary.
* It will open the Compare window.
* Now Edit > Create Script. Give the new generated script a name.
* Now I always close EFILive_Tune app and reopen.
* Now load your stock OS of the version off your truck.
* Select Edit > Run Script.
* select the script and apply it.
* Select File > Save As and save the new tune and again I close and reopen and reload the new tune with the
applied script to your correct OS.
* Now you can do a Standard Cal Flash.

************************************************

Not sure which controller you have.

A new feature in the V8 EFILive Scan And Tune software under the F3 Tune section (which at this not time is
not complete). Click on F3 Tune and then you will be at the F2 Read section. Connect the Flashscan V2 to the
OBDII port and hit the Auto Detect button. It will show you the PCM or ECM it has or ECM/TCM combination.

************************************************

Resetting the TCM Taps on 2001 to 2005 AL5 5 speed and 2006 to 2008 A40 6 speed.
Note: No support for the 2009 to 2010 A50 TCM at this time.
* Connect the Flashscan V2 to the OBDII port.
* Connect to the USB on the computer.
* Open the Scan app from the V7.5 software.
* click on the F12 DVT tab.
* Click on the down arrow next to the box that says Target Controller
* SElect the TCM controller you have in the list.
* Click the Activate button.
* Check the top three boxes in the Adapts tab
Clear All Adapts to Fast
Clear All Adapts to Fast + Base
Clear All Garage Shift Adapts to Fast + Base
* Next hit the Clear on each one.
* Once complete shut the vehicle off for 30 secs. Not really needed but many do.
* Disconnect everything and start it up.
* Time to relearn.

Here I am told to run through the gears easy for the first 3 to 5 times. Just let it go through the gears
all the way to the top gear if possible giving it time to up shift and with light HP. Then let it coast down
to downshift to back to 1st. After that you can do the same but add more power and seeing that it is all
shifting smoothly. Not sure if it is needed on EFILive but I heard on taps reset on the GM Tech II scanner
that its best to run through the reset twice. Sometimes it seems not to reset the first time but not sure
if needed on EFILive. Not heard it before but who knows.

Part 5

Updated on 8-25-2011

Part 1 - Updating the Firmware and Bootblock, SD Card, Reading, Cal and Full Flash differences and basic info.
Part 2 - Black Box Logging, Black Box Reading, and Black Box Flashing.
Part 3 - Switch Tuning (LB7 and LLY Bosch only), DTC Code Reader, DVT Controls, Basic DSP2 and DSP5.
Part 4 - Splash Screen, EFILive Scan app, New ECM, Basic Scripting, other options

Part 5 - Basic of adding tunes to DSP tune, V8 new features, Finding more help.
Part 6 - Reading and Flashing with V7.5 Tune app and V8 EFILive Tune and Scan app.

Adding your single tunes to a DSP5 tune. The basics not the easiest.

That is not the easiest thing to do. The way I see to do is a lot of cut and pasting of the tables. But the first thing is start out with your base tune that which most tuners use the most powerful one.

1. Open your base tune.
2. Convert it to DSP format.
3. Save new tune as a different name.
4. Open the new tune and make sure it is DSP format.
5. Open the first DSP#1 tune and look at the names of the tables in that section. Leave this open.
6. Open another session of EFILive Tune app and open the next tune that you plan to be as your #1 tune.
7. Locate the tables in the next tune and copy and paste the tables from that to the DSP#1 tables by name.
8. Once done I suggest saving.
9. Next open the next tune and do the same.

It is a pain but that is the basic theroy of doing it. Wish there was a tool to copy the tables from a tune to which DSP position you wanted but not seen that yet.

Finding more help here and other places.
I know this is not all just EFILive Flashscan V2 related but is helpful for even other topics.
Ways to make the best use of the Search Tools here.
* Hitting the search button is great help to begin with but using the right words makes it better.
Just keep it simply and use the most needed words like ' EFILive tuner ' and leave words out like
and, but, the, and other connecting words and of course the sight requires 3 letter words or more.
* Now you need something that you know is EFILive specific you can hit the ' Search this Forum ' button
located in the upper right corner when you enter the EFILive section or any section on this forum.
Same as the Search box at the bottom of the screen too. So one wants to know about the best tuner.
Hit the Search this Forum button and use a search string like ' best tuner ' and the search results
will only come from the EFIlive section instead of all the Diesel Place forum site.
* Another great source of info is the many sticky post located at the top of the many forum sections.
Lots of post that are about common questions or specific to that platform or section.
* Google is a great source of info as well. many searched items point back to this site so there one can
use some words and numbers that the normal Diesel Place search tool will not allow in its searching.
* Efilive has its own forum on its site with a well of knowledge and the link is located below in my post.
The same searching ways work there as they do here.
* As for specific sites for help tuning I really don't know of any other than this site, EFILive forum,
and a few other Duramax related forum sites. If anybody has some good links to tuning just PM me and once
I get a good pile of them I will make a post about links to EFILive tuning or other EFILive info.

Part 6

Updated 8-25-2011

Part 1 - Updating the Firmware and Bootblock, SD Card, Reading, Cal and Full Flash differences and basic info.
Part 2 - Black Box Logging, Black Box Reading, and Black Box Flashing.
Part 3 - Switch Tuning (LB7 and LLY Bosch only), DTC Code Reader, DVT Controls, Basic DSP2 and DSP5.
Part 4 - Splash Screen, EFILive Scan app, New ECM, Basic Scripting, other options
Part 5 - Basic of adding tunes to DSP tune, V8 new features, Finding more help.

Part 6 - Reading and Flashing with V7.5 Tune app and V8 EFILive Tune and Scan app.

Lets first work on the old way of reading and flashing modules with the V7.5 software.

To read out your tune you will do the following. (Read)
* Connect your Flashscan V2 to the USB and OBDII port.
* Open the V7.5 Tune app.
* In the toolbar are 3 icons with arrows. The one on the left is green arrow over an ECM.
* Once it opens you need to select the module you are going to read.
* Hit the Start button and it will read the tune.
* Next save the tune and if it is your stock tune I suggest storing in other locations like on a CD.
* The default saving of a file in V7.5 Tune app is *.tun but you can select *.ctd if you wish.
Info below on file types.

To Flash your tune you will do the following. (Cal Flash)
* As mention in other sections in these post if you are flashing the same OS back you can do a Cal Flash.
* Connect your Flashscan V2 to the USB and OBDII port.
* Open the V7.5 Tune app.
* In the toolbar are 3 icons with arrows. The one in the middle is red arrow over an ECM.
* Once it opens you need to select the module you are going to flash.
* Hit the Start button and it will flash the tune.
* Also there is a Check button to verify the ECM can be seen and used.
* If you never have flashed this module before you will need to use a license on the Flashscan V2
* Once license is accepted you need to restart the flash process.

To flash your tune of a different OS version you will do the following. (Full Flash)
Note: Before opening the app you need both cables connected or the Full Flash icon will be grayed out.
* As mention in other sections in these post if you are flashing a different OS back you will do a Full Flash.
* Connect your Flashscan V2 to the USB and OBDII port.
* Open the V7.5 Tune app.
* In the toolbar are 3 icons with arrows. The one on the left is bigger red arrow over an ECM.

************************************************

Here are the steps for reading and flashing in the new V8 software.

The newer V8 software is the future of EFILive. At this time it is not fully complete but many of the features
can be used. But to modify a tune you still use the V7.5 Tune app.

To read out your tune you will do the following.
* Connect your Flashscan V2 to the USB and OBDII port.
* Open the V8 EFILive Tune and Scan app.
* Once opened you select the F3 Tune icon in the left panel.
* select the F2 Read if it does not default to that.
* Now you have a few choices.
Hit the auto detect button and it will identify the ECM, TCM, and or PCM for you.
Other option is right click over the two black boxes and select the modules yourself.
* If you auto detected your modules and you have both ECM and TCM they will appear. Only one will appear
with a green check mark on them. If that is the module to read then you can start reading it. if not move your
mouse over the other one and click on it to make it have the green check mark. Most of the other options
will not apply to an unlocked module and some features are not enabled since not fully ready.
* Hit the Go button and it will start to read the module.
* Next save the tune and if it is your stock tune I suggest storing in other locations like on a CD.
* The default saving of a file in V8 Tune app is *.ctd.

To flash your tune you will do the following. (Cal Flash)
* Connect your Flashscan V2 to the USB and OBDII port.
* Open the V8 EFILive Tune and Scan app.
* Once opened you select the F3 Tune icon in the left panel.
* select the F8 Cal Flash.
* Hit the Open button and you will select the tune you want to flash.
Default is *.ctd and is the only option in the V8. No *.tun option
* Once it opens the screen goes to the F3 Calibration tab and show a pic of the module plus other info.
* Hit the F8 Cal Flash tab again and you will see a different screen.
* If all is correct you can hit the Go button.
* If you never flashed the module before hit the License button and following its output.
* Also there is a Check button to verify the ECM can be seen and used.

To flash your tune of a different OS you will do the following. (Full Flash)
* Connect your Flashscan V2 to the USB and OBDII port.
* Open the V8 EFILive Tune and Scan app.
* Once opened you select the F3 Tune icon in the left panel.
* select the F9 Full Flash.
* Hit the Open button and you will select the tune you want to flash.
Default is *.ctd and is the only option in the V8. No *.tun option
* Once it opens the screen goes to the F3 Calibration tab and show a pic of the module plus other info.
* Hit the F9 Full Flash tab again and you will see a different screen.
* If all is correct you can hit the Go button.
* If you never flashed the module before hit the License button and following its output.
* Also there is a Check button to verify the ECM can be seen and used.

************************************************

Differences between *.ctd, *.tun, and *.bin files.

*.tun files was the default standard used in the V7.5 software. It supported compression of the file so
less space to take up. The *.ctd extension is the new standard used by the V8 software, BBR, and BBF as well.
The *.ctd extension is not a compressed file so will be slightly larger. Reason for the new type is the
Flashscan V2 hardware device when doing BBR and BBF is not powerful enough to compress the files. As for the
*.bin format I have no real clue what it is for. One cannot save it as a *.bin and not sure what file a bin
would be to read. If anyone knows I be happy to correct this.
