Bi-Directional Scan Tool for Multiple Vehicles

I spent some time in the tuners section of the forum but could not find any recommendations for a scan tool that works well with our GM trucks and a host of other vehicles. Iím looking for a bi-directional scanner that will let me cycle A/C, ABS, reprogram keys, etc. for my LBZ, Acura and Lexus vehicles. Like many of you, I do all the maintenance on our cars and having the higher-end scanner is a real time and money saver in the long run. My price point is about $800. The one scanner Iíve heard about most recently is the Launch X431 Pros Mini

Anyone have experience with a decent, DIY, bi-directional scan tool for multiple vehicle platforms? I understand that I wonít be getting everything a $2500 Snap-On scanner will give but Iím looking to get the most functionality across several different vehicle platforms.

Thanks,
Phil

Autogenuity supports multiple brands, but you pay for brands separately or buy a bundle of them. It's windows software with a usb-odbii cable. At least for gm trucks, it supports accessing all the computers on the truck, as well as performing a various of diagnostic operations, but you'll have to either search through their web site or get ahold of them if you want to know what specifically they support doing with your particular vehicles.

Thanks, Davester. I'll check it out.

There are several bi-directional scanners, Launch, Autel, Autogenuity at the $800 price point but making comparisons is very difficult. Also finding out which, if any, support diagnostics with the LBZ (e.g., turbo vane position, injector balance rate, etc.)has proven hard to confirm. Still searching but so far the Autel looks the most promising for the money. Still need to verify all of the functionality for the LBZ engine.

Did you end up purchasing anything that met your needs? If so what was it and what functions does it do for the LBZ?

I found a great deal on a authentic Tech2 with a defective Candi module. I purchased a clone Candi module and it works great. Iíll get another scan tool for the other cars and am leaning towards the Autel MaxiCom MK808.
