Tow Beast vs Ultra V

I was at the local trailer store today pricing out a Tow Beast, and the guy behind the counter said if you like the Tow Beast come look at this Ultra V, i have to say the are both straight bar designs but the Ultra was built out of thicker steel on the sides that attach to the frame and uses bigger bolts and has alot more welds compared to the Tow Beast, but it didnt have as big of a cross bar as the Tow Beast, but the crossbar on the Ultra was thicker metal. They are both class V hitches and both are very stout, the only thing i liked was the Ultra was a 2" reciever and the Tow Beast was a 2.5"

This is just what i saw and would like to let eveyone know, i dont know what i will run but would like to get some opinions of the Ultra V if anyone has one

i am running a roll pan and use the truck for sled pulling

Thanks
Travis

I Have the Tow Beast. The 2.5 inch receiver is a pain because most of my ball mounts are 2". The reducer sleeve is a PITA to get lined up with the clevis pin when changing mounts. It is a tough unit. I just wish it had a 2" receiver.

I had a Class V (believe it or not on a half ton - I didn't put it on). We welded the reducer sleeve inside so I didn't need to mess with it.

I'd buy the cheaper one. I agree with freighttrain that the 2.5" is a pita for normal towing, but I like it for truck pulling.

I use the Ultra Frame Draw-tite. Works well.

i am on my second tow beast. first one had about 4000 miles of towing on it and about 50 hooks on it. i let it go with my 2002 truck. never had any problems.
i like the 2.5" receiver. that way no one can "borrow" your inserts. hitches can be bought all over and pulling hitches are made anyway.
