Enclosed Trailer Interior Lights Don't work

Well, I have had this problem since I owned my truck. I have tried the truck on 2 different trailers. Problem is the interior lights don't work. They should work off the Aux power pin on the plug. Is there a fuse that controls this? Also, I remember reading on here a while back about someone having a problem with their trailer wiring. I think they figured out that there was a fuse that wasn't installed from the factory. The only thing one that wasn't installed from the factory on my truck is the one that is next to stud 1. (#1 in owner's manual) The manual states Auxilliary Power (single batterys and Diesel only)/Dual Battery (TP2) do not install fuse. So, do I install a fuse here or not. I have a Diesel with dual batteries. Also, I was just using a test light on my plug and I didn't have power on the positive or negative posts (checked each to ground with a test light not to each other). Any help or expertise would be greatly appreciated.

If you install the fuse on that stud 1 it will solve your problem.

What Max Power said.

Remove the blank, install the 40 AMP fuse that came with the trailer controller harness, (the fuse is buried in the middle of the bundle). That supplies power to the trailer charge curcuit, (or trailer house power, if you will).

Thanks for the quick reply. I will do that..I thought I read it somewhere here on the forum, but I couldn't narrow down the search enough.

Try your trailer interior lights with the trailer connected to the truck (plugged in) and your parking lights turned on, I had a Pace trailer that required the parking lights to be turned on to operate the interior lights. Maybe your trailer is wired the same way.

Been there done that. Your pace trailer has the 4 flat plug on it doesn't it? That is the way my old interstate trailer was. This trailer came with the 7 round plug and electric brakes. I haven't installed the fuse yet to check it out, but I am sure that will fix it. Thanks for the reply though.

No, the Pace had a 7-way round RV plug and brakes as well.

Maybe...I still didn't have the fuse on stud 1 installed. I need to go find one at the auto parts store to find out. I don't know if, once installed, those 2 pins would have power without the lights on....it would make sence that it doesn't. I will know just as soon as I pick up that fuse though.

There is a shunt you need to remove first. It is red plastic and shaped like a fuse. There is also a small possibility that the ring terminal isn't on the stud under the cover. You can take the cover off and have a look if you like.
