between 92 to 99 and a few 2000's. look on the pass side for the turbo because not all had them. all these years have singles. i have a 4 door 1 ton 93 model that's a single.

Gas, what, his is a diesel(as in diesel fuel only).

You want to go fast, get a 454(gas). You want fuel mileage get a 6.5(diesel). You want both get a D-max(diesel).

Assuming you CAN find what you want, most of the 1 ton dually are Turbo Diesel.

The trouble is that the truck has a bad rep by the time it gets to that year so it has become scarce so it is hard to find. The people who bought it usually does not want to sell it until it gets to 200k or more.

Just wait and watch autotrader, craigslist, etc. to see if somebody wants to sell it.

3rd door option only was available on 1/2 ton.
started in '96, as an option.
i needed a 3/4ton, so, no third door.
almost would prefer a standard cab, hate having that space and no way really to get to it.

mpg's

i have 3.73's, drive 60 mph, keep it at 1800 rpm on cruise and just pulled in 21.8 mpg. i didn't correct for tire size so it might be a little higher than that but i'm not complaining. after the 1st 2 days i thought the gauge was messed up. i put 600 miles a week going back and forth to work. this is in the 96. 93 isn't on the road yet.

The trucks kind of suck stock, with a few mods they can be quick and powerful and also decent on fuel mileage.

My 94 2WD 1/2 ton if I can keep it to 65MPH gets about 23MPG on the highway, but it has the 3.42 gears, so although its quick, not as much as the lower geared guys. The light duty trucks are just that lighter, the 1500s and 2500s that have the emissions equipment. But that stuff can be removed.
