I believe you only have the MAF problem if you change over to a complete LBZ intake.

Installing a LBZ turbo inlet elbow or mouthpiece shouldn't cause MAF codes.

It looks to be a modified 6.0 airbox.

Ok I think I have this figured out what KB is doing.

this is my theory an LBZ 'moded' mouthpiece....factory LLY elbows cut down as well as the same bellow, and then a TX CAI mod on the fender.

factory LLY intake

LBZ intake

KB intake

notice how the mouthpiece design is the LBZ, and the filter section and elbows are cut down LLY's

it will fit very easily, the only thing is you have to cut the inlet tube from the airbox shorter as the lbz turbo inlet piece is a bit longer than the lly. this should help out significantly in relation to the coolant temps as it keeps the turbo cooler.

That sounds like a great idea....first we need some prices on a LBZ mouthpiece.

OK... but am I misreading the article, or are the dremel instructions for the LLY mouthpiece?

Yes LLY Mouthpice. What we want to know is if the LBZ mouthpiece is easy to install to the original LLY intake track without much effort or cost because it is a better design than the LLY moded or not.
