Half ton dmax

I've heard rumors of a v6 duramax when they were testing the 6l90, now in Diesel Power they report "don't be surprised to see a 4.9l Duramax V6 in the half ton in the begining of january 2007" Can anyone confirm this and if so any specs??

(I tried searching and found nada)

In the "New Vehicle Information" category, here's the first thread about the official announcement on 8/24/06: http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98286

And here's the usual duplicate thread a few weeks later:

Frankly, I think it unlikely that GM will be putting a diesel of any sort in a 1/2 any time in the next ten years. For one thing, with the new emissions laws nobody can make one... Even Volkswagen is dropping the diesels because of that and they made some of the best and cleanest light duty diesels ever...

As for the V6, that might be true. They might make one, but I don't think it'll be in a 1/2 ton.

That's because GM isn't going to build a 4.9L V6 Duramax. It was my mistake to assume it was obvious that GM would not produce a V6 version of the Duramax when they've announced plans to build an all-new smaller V8 diesel for the same application: under-8,500 GVWR vehicles.

Yeah, I still don't think they will actually do it. I'll be interested to see, though... A 1/2 ton diesel would sell like crazy...

The probably will and should. Ford is going to be putting a smaller diesel in the F150 and expeditions as soon as they can. I don't remember the time frame from the article I read. I think it was in Truck Trend though.

Why would they sell when you look at how much diesel costs over regular unleaded. I still cant believe it costs more.
