If I elected to just go with shift kit and converter and skipped all the clutches and other goodies....What would be a fair labor bill?? Thanks.

Eric,

I know a while back your were talking about putting your show on the road.....I know of 4 or so Tranny's that are waiting to be upgraded down here but not finding the right tech. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

I would be intersted in doing a trip like that if a couple things happended:

I would need to have enough trucks to make it worth while, and a commitmant from each, possibly in the form of a deposit for 1/2 the job or something.

I would need a place to do it, with a hoist. I could supply everything else. That may be the biggest hurdle.

Would need to have all set in advance in order to take take the time and plan trip...

It could be a possibility though....

how long would it take you to do the tranny upgrade??

jcummins

dmaxalliTech - I've been thinking about this....how many trucks do you need to make this work? How long does it take for each truck? How many days would you have to be here? I do have a fifth wheel that is not occuppied at the moment.

I might be up for this too... Just depends on when and how much we would be talking.... Unless I decide to do it myself... Then may need some phone numbers....Edited by: GMC2500HD

dmaxalliTech

average truck would take about 3/4 of a day. I think I would have to have at least 6 trucks lined up before i would seriously consider and a place to perform the work.

Another maybe here, depending on specifics. Was thinking of Suncoast Stage III, though?

How many does that make now?

jcummins

Not sure who here or near Houston is interested, but the names I've noted being from this area, and I've also noted are interested are myself, HoustonDMax, Amberjack, GMC2500hd, KVDMAX. BMCD......that's 6.

Chime in guys, this may be doable. The more there is the more likely we can pull this off.

jcummins sounds like he is working on some logistics for this event to take place, if anybody of you knows of a shop that would be willing to rent a hoist out, that is gonna be the biggest hurdle of all I think.

As far as the Suncoast III is concerned, its a good choice. Price installed is gonna be around 3500.00 out the door.

I think peanutgrower has a hoist. I know hes in Texas but not sure where exactly.

We have an engine hoist, not sure if that is the same thing, but I think it would work and plenty of working room... Just FYI..

IIRC not much else is needed other than a table for working space..

I would want my own Ally modified, not an exchange. I would also like to meet the person that is doing this mod and pick his brain and ask a lot of questions. I would like him to walk me into his rebuilding area and show me who is working on my Ally and what he is doing and why. I would then expect this trans person to spend some time with me talking tech or what ever because I am spending a lot of money with him. I would also like to check out his references with vendors(not always accurate) and members of this board to get their opinion.

This is what I would do, knowing what I know.

Redheads is a bad word with my wife. Why do wives dislike redheads? Why do redheads say all wives are full of s..t? Why do I think reheads are cute? Is my wife correct? Will I stop looking at redheads? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif I am a bad man.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

I would welcome anyone into our facility at ANYTIME. Or you could see our write up in transmission digest online. Our techs would be more than happy to go over any of this info with a person who has purchased a unit from us. As for exchange, we have 30 cores so ID and interchange is not an issue.

Zeeb, if he's a good installer, he will know what to "add" for holding power.... or so we would hope. If he is quoting that price and it doesnot include a TQ Converter........ we'll know he's a joke. And, if he is adding a TQ and it's not an ATS or a SunCoast......... whoever has one is in for quite a suprize, a very bad surprize.
