: 1 Pulse per second when cold at idle. Regulator going?

Morning boys and girls. My truck has come up with a new behavior. It is pulsing after I crank it about once every second or second and a half. Very rythmic and consistant. After the truck warms up or runs for a while, it seems to go away or is barely noticeable. It also does it just about everytime if I let it sit for a couple of hours. I have not been running any addative lately due to not having it in the truck. (Beds been full with other junk.)

Am I loosing my high pressure regulator or the injector pump? No lose of power, no ill effects other than the pulse. Something I can live with, but if it's on it's way to something dieing, I would just as soon get it fixed now.

Thanks,

i would bleed your filters first just to make sure you don't have any air in them. that's the easiest first step. i know you have a lift pump but it never hurts to check. if you pump is operational, i presume you don't see any diesel leaking anywhere?

I have not seen any leaks, but I will double check. I have an air trap on top of my mega and check it to see if I have air at every fill up. Last one was on Friday and it was good. I'm wondering if I am seeing the pulsing go away as the pump picks up.

Try removing the Predator tune and see if it goes away. Sounds like the cold lope. I've seen certain tunes induce this problem.

Has the zero tune reported a lope? I only use the Pred to recalculate the speedometer.

Who can say more on the lope with the Predator?

Chris,

Sounds like bad injectors to me. I hear the backorder on injectors is three months.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Mine is doing the same thing only it has increasingly getting more noticeable. I am totally stock 84k and just replaced my injectors two weeks ago (fuel in crankcase). I just did a live plot graph of my fuel pressure with tech 2 and it shows the surge, but not like I thought it would. I think I am gonna replace my FPR this week, I am about 99% sure thats the problem.

Ill let you know what it does after the replacement.

Chris I was joking about ht injectors, I am not sure what the problem is?

Chris, I was just up at Eric's (dmaxallitech) for my tranny upgrade. During a fluid check he immediately noticed my "loopy" idle and suggested I replace the fuel regulator. He says there covered under the 100,000 mile warranty.

I dropped it off this morning and asked them to check the regulator. I also asked them to fix the interior lights and the cargo lights on message with the inoperable cargo lights. I don't know if the BCM died or what, but it is acting strange. Just waiting on the call now. It will be interesting to hear what they find. The advisor was telling me about one of their guys who got a juice. He told me he could boil the tires all the way down the road. I told him I had heard that and left the fact I have one out of the conversation. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif Got stuck with a Dakota crew cab with the extended warranty. They had no cars and wanted an extra $12 a day to get a Silverado. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Have you heard back from them, Chris?

They have not even looked at the idle pulse yet. They can't find the short in the lights, which is what they started on first. Tomorrow is the earliest I might get it back and I am doubting that. I hope I get it back by the end of the week if they replace the regulator.

Got the truck back this afternoon. "Couldn't repeat the problem" on the pulsing idle. It was the headlight switch on the other. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Question, has anyone had the J/A make the pulsing worse? I didn't put the Pred back on last night to see if it made a difference. Now I need to pull the Juice back off to see if it goes away. I didn't hear the pulsing at the stealer, but did after I reinstalled the Juice. What is the latest rev for the Juice and the Attitude?
