: Is this a good price?
gregj 06-07-2004, 02:46 PM Found an '02 GMC DMAX, 4x4, crew cab, LT, long box, 29.5K miles, for 37950, very clean, and they're giving me a pretty good deal trading in my '95 Chev 6.5 TD with 102K miles.
Sounds to me like a good deal. And anything special to look out for on the '02?
Thanks in advance.
Greg
gator 06-07-2004, 03:03 PM you can buy a new 04.5 for way less than that price. keep shoping. the rebates and invoice pricing are the way to go IMHO.
BassinRVer 06-07-2004, 03:56 PM I paid 37000 for my 2002 SB LS CC 4x4 and it was brand new. I bought in August 2002. I would pass on that truck. You can definitly get a brand new one for that price.
3500LLY 06-07-2004, 03:58 PM based on that information i wouldnt go over 35,500 for it, but I dont know if that truck has a lot of mods and accessories or what kind of condition its in. I got the truck in my sig new for 38,500. Most people who have factory ordered on this forum have got their trucks for a couple hundred over invoice minus rebates.
CStone 06-07-2004, 04:10 PM I'd bail on that offer. I pd $36.5k (MSRP $46.8k) for mine brand-spankin' new in Dec 2003, no trade.

st_pinetree 06-07-2004, 05:23 PM I recently bought a used 03 Crew cab LT in near perfect condition for $32k. Course, it had about 60k miles. But I too, think that price is high. Unless your Canadian, keep shopping.
2003duramax1 06-07-2004, 05:52 PM Bought mine for 32000 had 6000miles on it 2003ext cab 4x4
dmaxalliTech 06-07-2004, 05:58 PM I gotta bridge for sale.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
gregj 06-07-2004, 09:27 PM I've priced new trucks, similar spec, dealers are not budging too much. Here's an example:
Sticker + TTL, $46817 minus $3500 in rebates = $43317, and they're offering over 3K less for trade. Seems the dealers around here are acting like the Ford and Dodge dealers were when their new models came out; here's the price if you dont like it, someone else will. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif They also know used DMAX trucks in good shape are hard to find and bring high $$.
No thanks on the bridge, I may have been born in the dark but it wasnt last night.
Thanks for the input.

gregj 06-07-2004, 10:22 PM Allright guys, I get the message. You prompted me to search the web, found a few DMAXs like I'm looking for, about 80mi drive away. 02 DMAX, crew cab, 4x4, etc, etc, 14k miles, $34K, looks like the best deal I could find so far. I'll keep looking. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Thanks
GMC2500HD 06-07-2004, 10:54 PM I paid 37 for mine brand new. Jump ship and find another one. You can do better...
rvarner 06-08-2004, 12:51 AM Greg,
Keep lookin'. I paid $33,400.00 for mine in Aug of 2002 and it only had 800 miles on the odometer (originally sold in Canada) and they delivered it to my door in Nevada for $300 additional--from Idaho. Mine is a 2002 LS/LB/CC/4x4 with the Allison.

Dutch110 06-08-2004, 02:04 AM Just for referance sake. I bought an 01' GMC Sierra ex cab 2 months ago. Now keep in mind this thing had a tick over 100k on it, but I paid $19 k for it - and got a warranty with it (that ended up paying for all eight injectors, an injector pump, and a sending unit all within the first two weeks.)
Bullseye54 06-08-2004, 07:40 AM Greg,
If you haven't already go to KBB.com and dig around in there. It's pretty acurate on the numbers they give.
FWIW I paid 23000 for my 02' 3500 in sig w/41000mi,6 mos ago & 35400 for the 03' 2500,new.Down here its Ford country so the Dmax's sit for a while on the lots.

Bullseye, thanks for the feedback. I had forgotten about KBB, I'd been looking at the NADA guide. KBB trade in price for my '95 6.5 TD seemed a little low. Speced out the DM I posted about here, and KBB had it at 36075, about 1800 less than the dealer was asking, but the dealer was also giving me about $4K more than KBB listed for mine. The only thing that really matters is the bottom line I guess.
No one's mentioned any "gotchas" to look for on an '02 DM.
Thanks again.

rmjdmax 06-08-2004, 03:10 PM In my experience, I find I do better net by selling and buying rather that trading.
Last year, end of May, I purchased a 03 LT CC SB D/A for 34,900. Truck was from Canada. The best I could get a dealer on a new one was 38K. This truck had 13K miles. I look at it like someone else did the break in for me. In one year and 20K miles. No problems other than the camper mirrors and a couple of re flash. Just had the TSB on the A/C done and what an improvement.
