Datsbad,

I have been dealing with offset quite a bit lately with the 22's we just put on our LLY. Yes, the 17x10 will stick out a ton. With the -25 offset you will be running into quite a bit of rubbing issues on the rear panel when turning. The hummer wheels have a positive offset of somewhere (not sure) but of like +20 or something (someone help me out here!). WIth a negative offset you will be sticking out a ton in the front, not so much in the rear (thanks GM for that beaut!). If you are looking for 5 inches of wheel sticking out of your fender, then the -25 offset is what you want. Are you sure the wheels are a -25 and not a +25? Just checking. Here is a pic I found on another site that helps explain offset a bit. Hope this helps... ~J

se7enracing,
I have also studied the offset, backspacing infos for a while now. Some people put 9.5 x 18 wheels with 325/60/18 tires on their trucks and it seem this look very nice. They have used 6 inch of backspacing. I found a promising combination with 9.5 x 17 wheels and 295/70/17 tires on it. I am planning to use 6 inch of BS as well but I am concerned than in front the wheel might not clear some suspension or steering components because of the small diameter. Since you are using also a combo with 6 inch BS (or 19 mm offset) but a much larger wheel do you think 17 inch would clear also the components or is the 18 inch wheel the minimum size for such a big backspacing? I talked to a wheel company and they told me 5 inch is the maximum they use for the 4 x 4 (on a 9 inch wheel, 18 inch diameter).
Thanks for your reply

mahalkita,

The recommended offset of the wheel company you spoke with is a bit scary! that would be a 0 offset. Serious clearance issues IMO. My tires measure 31.6 inches tall. With the +19 offset and the 9.5 width, I do have some slight rubbing when I back up to the right and have the tire fully cranked. I have TONS of room in terms of height, just not width clearance.. A skinnier tire like a 295 would help in terms of width of the tire. A 325 would make the issue worse. I personally do not see how people have the 325/60/18 on their turcks with 6 inch backspacing on a 9.5 inch wheel. Maybe they rub a little when backing... I just wouldn't be too happy with it (personally). We trimmed my airdam and have no issues there.. It is really easy to keep it clean looking. My truck is at the bodyshop for colormatching but when it comes back, I will post some photos of the wheels and how far they stick out and you can see what I mean...

Paying over 3k for wheels and tires is a large investment and rubbing my inner fender well isn't my idea of fun! If you are going to be buying a setup I want you to be sure of what you are getting! I learned ALOT when I took my truck in and found I couldn't fit 305/45/22 tires on the truck because of the 19mm offset my wheels had. I really didn't want 40 series tires... But that is all I could fit without major rubbing. They ride the same, just have a smaller sidewall!
