: Suncoast Stage III; How much to install?
Okay I've found a local diesel performance shop with a good reputation that will install the kit.
They've not done an Allison, but have done quite a few Dodges. Joe told them they won't have any problem doing the Ally and he'll provide assistance via phone if they need help. These guys also asked Joe how much labor to do the job.
My truck is a 4x4, so I'm sure there's an extra charge for that, but they want $1400.00 labor. Their shop rate is $80.00 an hour.
Seems a little steep to me, not as bad as I've seen posted here by some, but what did you guys that have done it paid?
You tech types that do these, how much is the going rate?
Thanks in advance...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

GMC2500HD 06-11-2004, 10:33 PM I am just curious exactly how much money they are making off those little pieces of metal? Makes you wonder. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Why don't you develop something for the Ally if it's so easy and get rich like we are.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif You think it's so easy. Do you have any idea how many nights people like me , Joe Webb, Steve Cole, Guy Trippen and anybody good spends working on "THESE LITTLE PIECES OF METAL" trying to make them perfect? You sir are a piece of work. Bett your ass is out the door at 5 sharp, and what, double time to help out after 5?
GMC2500HD 06-11-2004, 11:01 PM No Mike, that is not what I was talking about... Chill... No need to get your feathers ruffled. I don't leave my office til the last patient is seen, the last x-ray is read, etc. And there is no double time in my world.. I put in long hours too.
You are right, maybe I do not know what goes into this stuff and I understand it is time consuming and tedious work. THANKS for all you do. I was just curious why they are so high, that was my point...

I answered you last night and could not computer to load it.
Sorry
You hit a touchy point. I spend a lot of time with the tech people on this board and working into the wee hours of the morning means nothing. I spent today at Transgo learning, sharing, testing and comparing. Transgo gave me their laptop with Allison software to test and play with. I could have been at the beach with my wife. I will now go testing and playing with this program and documenting what I find to try and give something back to Transgo. I get a little irritated when I hear something like" why do any of these mods cost so much I don't see much there" Some of these mods have our souls in them.

GMC2500HD 06-12-2004, 09:37 PM No that's cool and I understand. Did not mean to push those little buttons. I know about long hours and no respect, trust me.
I will then have your heart and soul in my truck soon.. You gonna install it too right? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I will be happy to install anything you want, and if you are prohibited from coming here from so far a land, I am only a phone call away to help your tech and give him some pointers.

I just did a Stage III this weekend, I think I am fair at 3500.00
Parts and Labor, parts included the kit, new NSBU, Transynd, Deep pan upgrade and transfer case adapter gasket
Was that a single or triple converter?
I'm looking at $3600.00 for the triple, plus fluid and no pan upgrade. That's why I thought it was a bit steep.

redneck45 06-17-2004, 06:54 AM Dmaxallitech, Anyone do the suncoast upgrade in SE MI?
White Duramax 06-17-2004, 09:54 PM Dmaxallitech is in Grand Rapids. Worth the trip for ya.
redneck45 06-18-2004, 06:57 AM That is why I asked, wasn't sure if he did that install. I am really excited now, juice is coming, Suncoast install available in GR, MBRP is coming, gotta get my damn Nictane installed though!
Wolverine 06-18-2004, 09:57 AM he'll also do your nicktane. It's a real pain wrapping that hose by yourself and with two people for that matter...haha
The Boss 06-18-2004, 02:40 PM I am with ya, white duramax. I drove nearly two hours to Erics. I watched everything he did. Like I really had a clue what he was doing....but it was great to watch it come apart and go back together. Better than dropping off your "baby" and wondering when you pick it up if they really did what you paid them to do...besides all that...Eric shares alot of his knowledge with you while your watching. For what its worth.....
White Duramax 06-18-2004, 09:18 PM I actually had to make a 12hr round trip to get my truck to Eric to get it worked on. It should have been an 8hr round trip, but snow, 2wd, and my truck on the trailer behind it, dont mix to well. Oh well, it was well worth the trip. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
