Planning on taking our first cross-country trip in a few weeks. When it comes time to pull in off the highway and get fuel, I'm really not looking forward to negotiating the "car" pumps with my truck and trailer. Will the nozzles that the big rigs use fit my truck? I've heard some say they are a bigger diameter and won't fit a pickup. Can anyone give me some guidance? Thanks.

I drive the LLY and it has the larger hole for the big nozzle. I am not sure about the earlier 2004's.

Mine's a LLY so guess I'll fill up with the big boys.

Truck nozzles work, but be careful in certain states (AZ? ??) truck diesel has an additional tax on it, and the pump on the car island will be cheaper.

The LLY will accept the bigger nozzle. Few stops Ive made, she'll take FULL blast too. My Dodge could only take a partial shot!

In AZ if you buy fuel from a pump taxed for a use class vehicle over 25000 GVw you are charged an additional .08 per gallon, if you ask at the cashier they have to refund it back to you. I have noticed even some regular stations charging the additional tax, if you don't get it from the cashier it is lost, there is no mechanism to recover it. It also apparently illegal for a vehicle over 25,000 GVW to fill up at a pump charging the lower rate, and i see it every morning at the local convienience market.

Besure to fuel slow becuase the big truck pumps run faster than auto pumps and on a fourwheel (pickup) it will spit diesel back on ya and all down the side of your truck.....

Is there any reason we can't adapt a filler neck from and LLY to an LB7?? I know transfer flow makes the filler neck but I understand you still can't go wide open and it still has air/vent problems.

I can only get the large nozzle in about and inch and have to hold it, even the first notch is sometimes too much.

I also drive a LLY and have no problem with the large nozzle. At my local truck stop they have ten or more bays for the big rigs, that is where the big nozzles are and in the car bays they have smaller dia. nozzles for diesel. Just drive that baby around there where the men with the big fuzzys fill up!!!!

My 2003 GMC won't except the big nozzles, not easily anyway. The first and only time I used one it fit so tight I had to force it in and when done I was sweating blood to get it out.

I have the 2004 LB7 and mine works fine with the larger nozzle. I have had no issues.

This is what I was wondering too, is there a difference in the way they work?

Does the LLY have the small internal hose like the LB7?

Heard the LLY has a separate vent hose that the LB7 doesn't.

I just took my first towing trip with mine this weekend. The nozzle fits fine but I had to keep it on the slowest setting to keep the fuel flowing. However, the slowest setting was still faster than the "fast" setting on a normal pump.

No trouble filling at truck stops with my LLY.

Here is some info on the filler neck issue. The filler necks are different at the tank and are not interchangable.
