Many of you have asked for pics, so here is my first quick set. This a a Rancho 4" lift with BFG AT KOs in 295/75R16. I also have Realift torsion bar relocators and Michael Oakes Beefy Tie Rod Sleeves.

I installed it myself with an ocassional helping hand form my father-in-law. Took three days, call it 24 hours of labor. The Relocators took another day, but the way the get the torsion bars up out of the way makes it well worth it. Typical cost is around $1500 for the kit and the shocks run around $200-$350 a set depending. Labor to install is around $550-$650.

I posted my expereinces with the Rancho here: http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6842&PN=1

What is the height of the cab? I am looking to build a truck like yours, but I want to make sure the garage is tall enough for the truck?

thanks

The height of the cab as shown in the pics is 80.5". I have since added another inch to the rear, making the rear lift 3.5" and the front 4". The cab is now 81.5", or 6 feet 9.5". It easliy fits in my smallish 2 car garage height wise. As a poinr of reference, the carwash I use has a height restriction of 84".

Blaine,

Your rig looks sweet. With that 4" lift, do you think you could have crammed some 305/75/16s in there, or is 295 the max?

Here's mine with Rancho 4" and 315/70/17's. Height with onstar antenna is 83.75 inches and it fits in the standard garage.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/789_DSCN0260.JPG

Did you do a gear change to run the 315's?

315/75R16s should fit, but it may require 1/2 to 1" of t-bar adjustment to avoid rubbing. 315s with a 4.10 gear will roughly equal 265s with a 3.73. If you don't tow much or tow heavy and have Juice, then you shouldn't need to regear. However, I have come across a few guys that went back to 33s for towing, even with Juice. I think 315s with 4.10s and Juice would be a good combo for towing. I don't know what empty mileage would be with such a set up.

Don't know about diesel mileage but my 8.1/ally gets about 10.4 pulling 3 horse gooseneck, roughly 8k# loaded( roughly 15k combo) with 3.73 and 35's at 70-75 mph... only 2000 rpm, no probs with pulling in hills, have gotten 13.1mpg unloaded on interstate... oh well, didn't buy it for mpg's

Big Block Quad--

Your Truck ROCKS!! Clean style......looks good. Any tire rub on the front tires with the 4" lift? Can you go larger?

wzqlbgk,

Thanks for the comments. Actually I think the 315/70/17 is as big as I can go IMO. Had to trim the front airdam and the inner fender wells just in front and behind front tires. Mostly for lock to lock turning clearance.

Rich.
