: AUX. Plug for MP3/IPOD ??WTF??
YOUNG PUNK KID 08-31-2006, 02:22 PM I was very disapointed to find out only after the purchase of my $50K truck that it doesn't have a F&$#ING aux. port for my IPOD.. WTF!!! my buddies bare bones Titan has one. GHEY!! Anyways, I call chevy to see about a factory add on to my bose system and they say, "Sorry, gotta buy an 07' when they come out".. So my question is someone please help me figure out how I can add one cleanly to my factory bose system. I purchased an FM Modulator for my IPOD, but i just can't deal with the poor sound quality and Mess of wires and hardware involved. I'm told that the GMC's have an AUX. port in the glove box, but i have yet to see it with my own eyes.. I think the idea came from the same person getting " 20MPG NO MATTER HOW I DRIVE IT" guy.. I'm very mechanically and electronicly inclined so i'm going to do it myself, But i haven't and am not willing to pull the stereo out for an exploritory mission.. any help on the matter would be great.. thanks!
:ro)
Max Power 08-31-2006, 02:24 PM Do a search for Ipod. Lots of options. You can get an axxess adapter really cheap on ebay. It's not perfect but it sounds great!

DURAtotheMAX 09-05-2006, 11:49 PM The GMC's are identical to the Chevy's. There is no aux port in the glove box on either. I dunno, but I really wouldnt lose sleep over blaming GM for some little tiny detail that....Id rather have a duramax and deal with the lack of auxillary port than have a titan and get the aux port with the truck :)
You also have to consider that these trucks are basically an almost 8 year old design. Back when specs were laid out/radios designed, there was no such thing as an auxillary input on a car stereo, heck, there wasnt even such thing as an ipod! ;)
dont sweat the small things, you have a great truck :thumb:
jwfab1 09-06-2006, 12:08 AM I added the AII-GM24 to my Bose stereo. It plugs into the back of the stock head unit and allows 2 aux. inputs. I then bought a rca to head phone jack, 3' long and plugged it in. I drilled a hole in the lower right corner of the cell phone cubby hole( I guess thats what it's for) and ran the headphone jack through it. I use it to store my Ipod. I keep the FM transmitter with me just to charge the Ipod on ling trips. The sound quality is 10 times better than the FM transmitter.
dustinw 09-06-2006, 01:23 AM At least you can easily add a high qaulity input adapter on the GM vehicles. My '05 Subaru Legacy GT didn't even have that. You had to disassemble the radio and hack into the CD player's output in order to get a high quality input.
BSeery 09-06-2006, 07:28 AM another trick that helps with FM modulators ---- remove the outside radio antenna. This way you don't have to fight between a real radio broadcast and the modulator's broadcast. It helps in area where there are a lot of FM stations and you can't get an open channel to use.
truckie 09-06-2006, 01:45 PM mp3mycar.com This site sells the perfect adapter for IPOD. It is fairly easy to install, cost about $180.00 -- but the sound quality is perfect, worthy of your BOSE system and the IPOD itself. I installed one in My 2003 GMC and ny brother put one in his 2006 Chevy. The great thing is they charge the battery while it is plugged in, they are direct to the stereo, and you use your stereo controls to operate the IPOD. Nice way to go!
Good Luck!
Minn-Kota 09-06-2006, 01:55 PM Can you navigate through ALL playlists with this NEO interface? There are other units out there that only allow for 6 playlists when using the radio controls in the truck.
truckie 09-06-2006, 02:13 PM NEO only allows you to navigate through six playlists via the steroe controls, but you canuse the IPOD controls, and override the controls to do as you please.
corona 09-06-2006, 02:13 PM I have an aftermarket XM Skyfi2 I added to my truck. I currently use the tape adapter to get audio into my stereo. Would any of these work for that situation, and would they sound better??
Minn-Kota 09-06-2006, 03:30 PM If you can only use six playlists from the radio controls, I'll pass on this one and keep my eye on the one made by Nexxus.
Thanks for the feedback.

If the SkyFi2 has a headphone port then any MP3 adapter should work. That is a "stereo mini" port for headphones. Most adapters have dual RCA jack input, but as mentioned above you just get a RCA-stereo mini adapter cord.
The sound would be marginally better, about the difference between the best tape and a CD. I personally would live with the tape adapter since it's free and works well. Much better than the FM modulator.
mmcfd64 09-30-2006, 07:54 AM the 08 HD's will have the mini plug for the ipod. They have the same dash & radios as my wifes new 07 Yukon.
vwmurph 09-30-2006, 08:26 AM I have the USA spec iPod adapter in my 06 and it works great. I have complete control using the iPod click wheel and can still use my steering wheel controls to select track forward/back.
