I have a new '06 Crew Cab Duelly, LBZ. I have never messed with a chip on any truck I have owned. Which one is the most user friendly? I travel alot and have 36' Fifth Wheel. Is their really any diference between any of the chips or do some of the chips and programs just seem to work better with specific vehicles?:help2:

SuperChips FlashPaq was my first programmer. It seems fairly simple to use once you get used to the routine. The instructions were good. I have read from other posts that SuperChips is usually the leader (others just copy their program, then adapt it for more performance). They do not compare well to all the others that lean toward more extreme performance, i.e. not what you want if you are interested in 1/4 mile time. Hence I think they may be the most dependable and safety conscious about not overstressing the engine. It made a heck of a difference on my truck, but then I am starting with a LLY that gets woken up to LBZ+ range!:)

Haven't towed with it yet though (note my rig is similar to yours). I love the increased fuel mileage with the chip, and the power is astounding.

What type of fuel mileage increase did you get with the programmer? That is all I am looking to increase myself. Extra power would be nice, but it is the mileage I am concerned with.

Ya mileage is my biggest consern also. Is Superchip the safest bet since it will be my first time?

Hypertech is certainly cheaper than Superchips. Usually around $280 new. I have a Hypertech for every vehicle that I own and always have...I've got 52,000 on my LLY while tuned...Also getting a solid 18 mpg.

I get about the same on the middle settling. I get between 10-11 mpg towing:).

My best prior to the programmer was in the 19MPG range, afterwards on one trip mostly freeway driving was ~23MPG one direction and ~25MPG the other, hand calculated (see my other posts for more details on the trip). Probably picked up a mile or two per gallon around town. Haven't towed with the programmer installed yet. Stock I get around 10-12 towing; hoping for 13 with the programmer with my heavy 5er.

From what I have read in other posts, and from their webpages, it appears they are in the top tier for both smooth operation and reliability. Most of the others seem to mainly be conerned with top performance. Forgot to mention their customer support was top notch too (by email).

You guys might want to read through this thread:

Note that Ron from SuperChips normally posts his email address and phone number with his posts. You might also look at his other postings since he frequently answers questions about programmers or the SC one in particular.

jepear15,

The Superchips is more expensive but it is 100% on line upgradeable and has lots of features the Hyper doesn't as well. It's well worth the money for most of our customers as they never have to send the unit back in for a reflash and such.

Thanks Guys guess I will get my Flashpaq ordered and let everyone know how it goes. It should go real good with my 5'' Exhaust.

Flashpaq is excellent, no download problems no vin lockout no pulling fuses. Screen is clear and easy to read well worth the money plus when you call them they answer the phone. Mark at DPPI is great to work with all my stuff came from them.

I would recommend the Flashpaq for what you are using it for.
