I took a short trip last week the temperature was in the high 70's to mid 80's. My engine temp looked like it was running right around 200. I had put a Putco Bow Tie Grill insert, and was wondering if it was cutting down on the airflow. So I stopped and took the grill insert off, my engine temp stayed the same. I only heard the fan come on 3 times in 250 miles. I do know all temp gauges do not read the same. I guess I never really watched the temp gauge that close before. What is normal for the Duramax in this type of driving? I have a 28 ft fiver I will pull in a few weeks, and was wondering if I should pull the grill insert while pulling my 5er.

I just picked up my camper last week and pulled it back through some 12 degree grades in Ark. My water temp never got any higher than it normally does, about 195. The egt varied alot more though from 4-12 degrees. My grill is stock, if you haven't blocked out alot of air you should do all right.
