I was just curious if anybody was using them at the track and how much of a difference an open exhaust would make on these trucks.

Scott,

After adding the flowmaster muffler and Stage II air box, my 1/8th time and speed was an increase of 0.5 mph and 0.07 +- ET. I was running Hot Juice 125HP only both times. Goes to show you the stock exaust on the 02 is not that bad.

The cutout exaust would have to help EGT's though, especially running a full 1/4 mile. I have thought about it.

wouldnt an exhaust cutout dump smoke under the truck ? where would you install it? before the muffler? i would find that to be pretty nasty having all that smoke under ya at a stop.

Eliminating the muffler is the idea. Track purpose only.

You'r right, it would be a mess ---- the solution is offered by the Street Pro 4' Power Master--- take a look at the web site www.streetpro.us (http://www.streetpro.us) --- you will see several trucks that ran the "open" exhaust through a "stinger" pipe out in front of the right rear wheel --- looks cool and does the job ----

I have the straight pipe on my truck, no cutout just straight pipe and I love it. Nice sound and my truck runs better IMO.

Texas Red Wagon,

We currently have a memeber of this site that is going to install a Street Pro electronic cut out and do dyno testing before and after the installation to see what he really gets HP and EGT wise. We will post the results here when it is completed. Time frame right now is for the dyno runs to be done the 31st.

I know of a dodge that lost bottom end power, but felt better on the big end.
