Hello all! I am from the San Diego area and have both a 01 and 04 D-Max. I love to tow my boat to the ocean and needed the power that these trucks have!!

I have done the injector thing with my 01 twice and am now waiting for GM to replace my 04 since they can't stop it from smoking. The #8 injector has a mind of it's own and will dump fuel for no reason. It has been in the shop since it was only four days old and is still doing it's smoking when ever it wants to (total shop time over 40 days). GM has been great and I am driving it till they come up with a new one to replace it with.

I am looking forward to learning even more!!

Hello Dennis,

Glad to see you posting here. As you told me... A little research and I will be as, if not more knowledgeable, than some who even sell the product........

Even tho you say GM is been great about this problem, California has a "Lemon Law" that you might consider looking in to. 40 days in the shop for a new truck is a bit muchhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

if my new truck was in the shop for 40 days not only would I declare it a lemon, I would likely kill someone

Harley 99 and jmg343,

I am past the lemon law thing and GM is trying their best to find me another truck or they said they would just build me one. For now I get to keep the 04 so I have a truck to drive. The most help I got from GM was when one of their upper guys read a post on another site and emailed me for details. He was able to get things moving at twice the speed they were going. YES Gm does watch these sites for feed back.

thats good that they are letting you drive around in the truck as to not inconvienience(sp?) you. Its also great that they are working with you to do whatever it takes to replace your truck. I hope your right and that GM does watch for feedback. I happened to be extremely disappointed with Chevy when I was buying my truck, NO ONE could find me exactly what I was looking for and barely anyone, including GM officials when I emailed then, seemed to care enough to offer me some sort of solution. In the end I bought a great truck but I did have to make some compromises. I am loyal to chevy and love their trucks but I cant say quite the same for the people that represent them. At least not after my last experience. Hopefully things will only improve from here on out.

I was trying to stay away from all the bad things I could say about them and agree that their phone staff needs a lot more training!! I have one of the better dealers around and that also helps. Any advice I could give would be to use all the tools in your box when you have to deal with them. The BBB Auto Line does work. I have to deal with building permits for a living so I was ready for GM. LOL
