I have a 03 CC SB.
I am looking at a 28 foot RV.
I also pull my Jeep on a trailer.
Anyone put the two together? My Jeep buggy is 3500 pounds or so and the trailer is 2200 pounds.
The Dealers all tell me that it is all good and safe. Personally I want some real world experience to go off of.
Both the 5er and the Trailer have brakes on both axles. I am not worried about the weight so much but about the two trailers.
The 5er is new and the dealer guarentied the hitch for the load off the back of the 5er...I am still kinda skeptical.
This is for Freeway driving 95% of the time. No intentions of taking it on anything less than a double lane road.
Thanks in advance.

I pull a 4000lbs boat behind my 5ver. No troubles to date. My boat tracks really nice behind my 5ver no sway at all. You will need to look into the legality of towing 2 trailers in your state as well as maximum length.
If your car trailer also has electric brakes and not surge brakes make sure your brake control can handles 8 brakes.
I would want to make sure that the hitch on the camper is really strong. Some are just made to carry bikes. My other concern would be if the 5ver wiring is heavy enough to handles the extra load of more lights but most importantly 4 extra brakes.Edited by: Max Power

They'll bust your chops for any kind of dual trailer setup here in Florida!

Will your Jeep fit in a "Toy Box" fifth wheel?
Some here are hauling cars and dune buggies in them. Looks to me like a better solution if it will fit.Edited by: Zeeb

Thanks guys.
I looked into the toy haulers. The only ones that are close to having the carry capacity are the Forest River Inc. Work and Play.
But the pisser is that I am to long for sure and probably way to tall for them. I would love to go that route but I don't think it is happening.
Fireman- Thanks, I will make sure I steer clear of Florida (not that I ever had any intention of going there anyway)
Max- thanks for the tip about the break controller. I will be making the hitch and have no fear of it's streangth. Overall leangth...thanks I will check it out.
I will also look into the ampacity of the wires and draw from the breaks. Good suggestion.
ANYONE ELSE?

Here in Ontario, I looked into towing a trailer behind our fifth. Max overall length was 75'. I also would have to get my truck, fifth wheel trailer and the utility trailer rated as commercial. All three would be subject to safey inspection every year. Plus get my truck re-licensed to tow heavier weights. That was just a charge more money for road repairs, because of heavier weight.
There was a toy hauler at a local RV dealership. Took a walk through. Seemed like there was alot of room in the back. But you would get the smell of gas through out the trailer. Don't remember the make. 36' tri axle.

One suggestion would be to check with the Forest River dealer; Forest River is very accomodating about some custom work and maybe they would be willing to make one to order with a bigger box to haul your Jeep. I know I wanted a lot of mods to my Cedar Creek and they were more than willing so maybe they would custom one for you. Can't hurt to ask!

Caution!
Unless Alaska has changed their requirements, you gottta have air brakes on the first trailer when hauling more than one trailer; not sure about the brake requirements for the second trailer....

Broker- Get a toy hauler? What do you mean? as in a Toy hauler 5th wheel or a lighter trailer? Why would I not like my equipment trailer? That thing kicks ass. Pulled it all over the country with no trouble.
