I'm in the market for a used 2500HD Duramax. I'm finding 2005 vehicles with 135,000 miles abd 2002 models with 35.000. The prices run from $39,000 to $17.000 and the mileage does not seem to track with the price.

Can anyone give me an idea of what to look for in a truck. I'd like to save money but don't want to trade money for a lack of reliability. I've recently become disabled and don't need a bunch of headaches from my vehicle. My job causes me to travel a large part of the time.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just looked at your name, and now that song is stuck in my head.
If you're just traveling and not towing a TON I'd recommend the '04.5 to '05.

I would'nt worry to much about the miles. Just look the truck over and see how good its been taken care of. Thats what I would do. I would'nt be scared of 135,000+ if your gettin a good deal and the truck looks and runs good. Just my 2 cents!!

I would not be scared of the 05 with 135000 because you can be assured that most miles are highway, I bought a used 05 LT with trim 3 and 45000 miles for $30000.00 in colorado (Wyoming price not even close) so do some shopping before you buy

My '05 will be up for sale about the end of January. Current mileage is just over 24,000 and it is immaculate. I wouldn't be surprised to see more similiar deals like this start popping up, just look EVERY DAY if you are serious and ready.

One thing I have learned, when you see the one you like, don't wait too long to buy it, or it likely will be gone when you go back. Most of what I sell goes to the 1st person that looks at it, but those that haven't, that 1st person comes back a day or two later expecting to buy it, and it's gone by then, and they get BUMMED!

a few months ago i bought a 04.5 with 179,000 miles on it. crew cab, 4x4,bose sound ,pretty much with everything on it. brush gaurd, b@w goose neck hitch. i paid 16,000 even. dont know if its a good deal or not but i love this truck. i probably wont put more than 5,000 miles a year on it. i had to get the ac fixed. didnt blow very cold, new compressor and accumilator fixed it. the guy that had it i talked to on the phone told me the things he had done to it. he put new front hubs on it, i guess they go bad after awhile. and had a few other minor issues he took care of. he planned on keeping it but the dealer he buys from called him about the 72 month no interest deal chevy had going on so he got a new one. here in oklahoma used ones dont stay on the lot very long and they usually get premium prices for them. good luck.
