If my tranny ever smokes, I know who I'll be calling (after Mike L. of course :exactly:).

Good job and nice pics!

my dad's shop at his lumber yard...he built it for working on/servicing the trucks. Previously the two mechanics worked outside, so when he built a new shed in the yard, he sectioned off one of the existing sheds and made it into an awesome shop with Rotary lift, tools, air cond office, waste oil tank, fluid and parts supply and everything else. I am very lucky/thankful that he lets me use it :)

btw guess what two trucks live in that shop? The Ford F-450 rack trucks with the 6.0h no. ):h All of his other trucks are Internationals, and a couple small delivery/paint vans being Chevy Express's. The two F-450's have had many problems....untracable coolant loss on one, and the turbos have been replaced twice on both of them. At another of the yards he has two 2002 Duramax rack trucks. Other than injectors theyve been problem free...

Ben,

Now you have done one with and one without the stop sign. How much did it help?

I would have to think the assembly went smoother with the stop sign. Kinda of a neet tool.:ro)

Stop sign worked well, great design Tony and Trippin!! :thumb:

Only problem was that the threaded rod Tony gave me was too big to fit in the center hole of the stop sign :duh:

also, much longer bolts are needed. The bolts that Tony had were too short so it was tricky to sneak into the drum because the stop sign was in the way. Long bolts would make it perfect :ro)

Mike and Eric, how do you guys do this when you do trans's??

That design was all Tony. :ro)

I just humbly machined it. :D

With the Kent moore spring compressor ;) sans the stand... Just use an arbor press and the appropriate sized compressor.

I use a clutch drum press that fits any drum made.

The goal was to make something that you didn't need a press to use. ;)

You can use the stop sign on just about any transmission clutch drum out there. The bolts can adjust to any diameter.

That goal was met. And then some.

Doesn't it make it hard to get the snap ring pliers in there?

Not one to knock a product I haven't tried.. but that was my first impression after seeing it.

Would a regular clutch spring compression tool work, like you would use for a TH400? One like pictured below?

NO,

If the right length bolts are used it works very well.

The right snap ring pliers are needed as well..........;)

This was designed so that anyone can easily remove the C1/C2 rotating assembly snap rings without the need for a drum press. Most DIY's can accomplish this without the need for a press.

All anyone needs is a piece of threaded rod and some 6" long 1/4" bolts............

Ben was going to get longer bolts as he knew he needed them before he left my house.......... , I guess he got it done with what he had to work with.
