First off, I really like this truck!

Ok, now to the questions. I have 21,000 miles currently. At 20,000 miles I changed the Oem fuel filter (2nd time, I do it at 10K intervals), changed the oil (5k intervals), flushed the allison and changed the spin on filter. At 17,500 miles I installed the Nicktane Cat filter.

I have started to notice a slight lope to the idle from startup to 180 degrees. No smoke, no hard start, everything else is perfect. Any ideas?

Also, how many miles should the Nicktane Cat filter last? It wouldn't be causing the lopey idle, would it?

Thanks!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

P.S. I am leaving for vacation tonight.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I wouldn't stress too much about the lopey idle. It is a common problem with the Dmax.

It seems to have mulitple causes and fixes, some hoave found that running an additive solves the problem others have been able to get a reflash of the computer to solve the issue. The worst case scenario requires the fuel pressure regulator be replaced on the flue pump.

It doesn't seem to cause a problem in most trucks, mine comes and goes depending on fuel and additive mix. More of a quirk than a problem. Your under warranty....if it bugs you have the dealer check it out. I think there is a TSB out regarding this problem.

Lopey idle = rough idle, fluctuation in idle (high, low) usually to small of change to see in the tachhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

I don't think the Nicktane filter is contributing to the lopey idle. Mine did it for a short time, but I noticed it went away after I started using Primrose fuel additive. Its disappearance upon use of the additive may be entirely coincidental, but that's how they teach chickens to push buttons in their cages. (cluck, cluck)

You should be able to run 15-20k on the CAT filter element. two of the trucks i test on with lots of miles replcae them at 18k.. after 18k OEM filter looks about 15% used..

Thanks Nick! I was hoping to it would last at least to 10k so I could change it and the OEM at the same time.
