For owners with LBZ's who have actually experience this for themselves (Not Bob's cousin Louis' son), which aftermarket products will actually improve mpg. And does the benefit justify the cost. Which products don't work.

I read an impressive post about BD pup. Any others. What about intakes, etc.

Get rid of the cat and block that EGR!! Then look into a tuner of some sort. But you gotta keep it on the "economy" setting ;)

A friend of my brothers sister-n-laws son who did some yard work for one of there cousin's, best friends neighbor was told the the BD Power Pup will give you extra HP.

Guys are running level 6 :eek: on stock tranny's. They say no tranmission slipping even at those levels on the new 2006 tranny's :D

Well I wish I had been in the sauce tonight but since I can't sleep I will give you a sober answer. I do about 95% stoplight to stoplight and was running about 15 (manually calculated) since new. The last tank was with my 4" exhaust and EGR blocked and fingered running B5 (biodiesel mix from western energetix) I jumped to 17.5 manually calculated. I feel the exhaust REALLY woke up the truck and it suprised me since I drove it alot harder this go around just so I could listen to the new exhaust. I guess I also added a "Slim" tool box but I don't think that added anything but weight. :( Can't wait to get juiced and see what happens.

I have removed the kat and unplugged the EGR with no finger stick, and I think it runs better than stock. The cat is the key. It is pretty restrictive.
I still can't see where a programmer can give you better mileage if it is adding more fuel to each compression event. Adding more boost and more fuel to me seems like less mpg. On my LB7, I had the edge and I dropped about 1.5 to 2mpg with it. Ran like a maniac, but that came at a price.

With my LLY and the simple mods I did, I just checked my fuel mileage yesterday, by hand, and got 16.5 mpg all purpose miles. Meaning some stop and go and some highway. No trailer, or load. There were at least 3 zero to 95 mph blasts in there and one little power brake wheel spin in there. Oh yea, I had about 15 to 20% bio diesel in there as well. Not to bad. No Programmer.

I tried 3 different chips and the Superchip on middle setting seemed to pull nice #s. I was getting around 20 at 70mph when the truck only had like 500-1000 miles on it! My superchip is for sale if you are interested pm me. I went for the power not mileage.

I was getting around 15.5 to 16 hand calculated on my truck then I did the blocker/finger stick combo and a mbrp 4" system with the cat delete front pipe and I am now averaging 17 to 18.5 and I know I am driving harder with the exhaust to. Cant get enough of the turbo whistle.

So a new exhaust really helps alone, or do you guys have aftermarket intakes? And who can you find to remove a cat now days? Wouldn't this throw an error code. I like the quietness of the new diesel, so I may not mess with the exhaust for a while. Wil a new intake and tuner offer much improvements? I plan to block the EGR ASAP and do the finger stick mod.
