Hi, I have been thinking of geting a Dmax and I am trying to decide what model to get and how much $$$$ it takes to get these things to run. Thanks in advance for the help.

Tranny, exhaust, lift pumps, and EFI Live

this is for the 05 LLY though, as there is no version of EFI Live for the 06 LLY/LBZ yet

One could always hook a x-23 rocket in the bed, that should put you in the low 8s or even lower maybe.

Just remember that each lb of thrust = 2hp :thumb:

Not much for the lbz. just bully dog with crazy larry and a muffler delete. You dont need a lift pump on the lbz. or a tranny

Anything close to 500hp should have a lift pump, at least a TransGo kit aswell (minimum)

X2 plus tie rod sleeve, pitman and idler braces and last I heard EFI should be out this year for the 06s

Well, it sounds pretty easy to get these trucks to go fast. Still can't make my mind up if I really want one. I've had several Dodges in the low 13's and know of several in the 10s and 11s. It can be done reliably on the cummins. I'm just wandering how long the DMax can take this kind of abuse. I put 225K miles on my 2001 twin turbo dodge. It dynoed 608 hp at 55 psi boost(boost #'s were over 70psi on the street, so who knows)and I towed 25K pounds with it very often. Never done anything but change oil. How many miles have you seen on the BIG hp dmax's?

Well, it will take more than the 1 chip im running now to break into the 12s.

Since the Engine is a 2006 Model there hasn't been a lot of time for people go out and find the limits. It doesn't matter what you buy, they are all a money pit if you want to go fast. ;)

No kidding. I dumped $20,000 in my 2001 to get it in the low 13's. It was a 6 speed. If it had been an auto, would have easily been in the 11's. But now these new trucks with all the electronics are awesome(as bad as I hate electronics) My 2005 Dodge will outrun my 2001 and it has very few mods. I' on my way to building my wifes 2003 auto. It is very easy to get the autos in the low 13's now. Thats probably all I'll do with her truck. But I still can't decide on the chevy. I've always been a chevy fan, but these cummins engines are as close to indestructible as you can get. I ran mine at 1800+ degrees So many times and never had a problem. I made over 200 passes in my 2001(30 in one night) and never so much as a universal joint(even thought I had plenty in the toolbox). I just don't want something I gotta work on everytime I go to the track or try to pull 30K up a 6% grade at 80 mph. Guess I'll lay back and see how these 06's hold up. Thanks guys for the input.

20K? Good gawd... I'm glad I don't have any real desire to mess with mine. I spent $1500 in go fast parts on my Cobra and ran 10s the 2nd time to the track with it. Doing it in a truck is cool but thats a ton of money.... Want to go fast in a truck buy a Lightning! I went 12s with under a grand worth of parts on stock tires.

Or a SRT10 pickup. My buddy has one running 9.60's. Have no idea whats done to it. Anyway. Looks like I'm gonna stick to the Cummins. I just bought another one after driving my buddy's 2006 dmax 3500 pulling a bobcat. It was awesome before we loaded it, but it lost a lot of its a** with that weight. Left a lot to desire when pulling a load. I know how to make the cummins fast and I know their reliabe. Maybe a chevy some other time. I really appreciate your time here guys. Thanks again

Hard to compare your '01 Cummins w/600HP to the 360 put out w/the new D-max. ;)

Just a note: compare apples to apples :D

Hook your new stock cummins up to the trailer if you think the LBZ didn't have any power. I don't know how those things go up hills without a programmer in them, they are dogs!

Good luck with your new purchase, none of them suck its all personal preference.

On an LBZ Xcellerator, stacked with the duramamizer, boost control and injector nozzels w/tranny upgrade should put the truck easily in the 12's we'll know in a few months for sure on this:ro)

ps cp3 duel lift pump will really make it go

Wow, 608HP, towing 25K pounds very often, going 225K miles, only changing the oil. You may want to stick with the Cummins.

This is easy..... about 8,000 pounds of trailer behind the truck will have you in the low 13's....mpg that is:muahaha:
