: lift pump pics
moss022 06-03-2004, 09:44 PM i know there are getting to be a lot of you guys running them, if you have a camera, i need to see pics or tell me were to go to see them. i already have a 6.5 lift pump, just dont quite know what to do with the rest. thanks again for all of your help!!
hasselbach 06-04-2004, 12:55 AM Here you go.. I'm going to put little wheels on the bottom of each filter to help it roll over rocks and curbs... works great.

Kennedy 06-04-2004, 09:31 AM The 6.5 pumpis good for every day driving, but will not come close to keeping up to a 350+ HP dmax. Nice pump, just too small for HP applications.
DMax_Doug 06-04-2004, 12:52 PM Speaking of lift pumps, in the months since several posters here have been testing various pumps and configurations, has anyone came up with a lift pump configuration that is reliable and provides adequate fuel flow for high HP applications? Maybe it's time for someone in the know to post a summary of lift pump options and test results.
I would love to install one, but would weight my choice first on reliability, then performance.
Diesel Power 06-04-2004, 01:25 PM Doug- I've tried a couple so far. ON MY TRUCK, none have been able to hold adequate PSI under full throttle load. crusing i run about 6.5 PSI but put the pedal down and it will go down to 2.5-3.5 PSI.. i don't think many people will answer as you need a pressure gauge you can watch while driving... people are still working on solutions so stay tuned..

My dual set up gives me about 4 to 4.5 under initial load, then stabilizes to 6. Normal pressure is 8 psi. I figure more than that is over kill and not required.

If i run the 145 Hot OJ i never have the pressure go below 5.. its only when i run a BIG program that it goes down.. that being said several pumps out there are fine for people running no more than a BIG juice box. once you step up to a 200hp program is when pressure problems can surface..

Well, if I step up to the 145 or 200 hp box, I think I have room for 2 more lift pumps along the frame. Gotta love AN fittings and Push Lok hose!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Diesel Power, is the 145 box worth it over the 125 box level 5 that I have now? Did you see any thing that was noticiable? (Will it pull my boat out of the water faster than it already does?)

The std Juice level 5 runs just across 400 RWHP on my truck. The HJAT level 5 runs 450's on my truck. We did back this up on another truck with beefed trans.
Of course, the results are weather dependant.
Diesel Power 06-04-2004, 06:07 PM honestly i never did a lot of comparison's between the two as i never ran them at near the same point in time..
moss022 06-04-2004, 06:13 PM i have so many questions about this topic. i will just take a few at a time!! on the 6.5 lift pump-do i need to limit the pressure or do they top out at 6-8 or so? does that pump need to be recirculated, or can it just flow what it needs untill it maxes out? on a stock fuel filter what is the micron rating. theres a starthttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Kennedy 06-04-2004, 08:01 PM The 6.5 pump will not create excessive pressure. The highest you will see in my experience is 12psi.
I presently run 8-9psi at idle. No regulator, no seals, virtually silent, and leak proof. It takes 2 pumps in series to get me there, and it does drop off a bit on supply pressure, but not much. Shut the pumps off and it will run just like stock...
Ran a SMOKY 500+ run and rail psi remained within approx 10% or desired. The duty cycle "bottomed" out at 12%, but most of the time it was at 18ish.
Diesel Tech 06-04-2004, 08:27 PM One key thing to note is that we ran the pressure testing on Diesel Power's truck both on the street and on the dyno. The results on pressure drop were the same in both cases. So what you get on the street is the same thing you get on the dyno, or very close to it. We saw about 3 psi on the street for the low reading and 2.5 psi on the dyno. So it was slightly lower on the dyno
moss022 06-04-2004, 08:41 PM when running with 2 pumps(kennedy) or one, are they on all the time, or are they tied into the oil pressure wire? basically you just put the pump inline with the fuel flow with no regulators or fancy stuff, maybe just some extra filters. or is there a little more to it. i have one pump now, looking at a wix filter head and filter for 26 bucks that filters to 10 microns. can i basically plumb all of it with some powers switches, or is there something i am missing?
