http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif I am the previous owner of two Ford Power Strokes. I am very excited about my new purchase and looking for any advice, knowledge, help or wisdom that you may pass on. Are there any things that need to be addressed right off the start. The truck now has about 1400 miles on it. Thanks for any help.
Eric
Welcome to the forum...
You'll find lots of helpful folks around here with good ideas and experience reports.
I'll get you started with what's been a problem with the HD trucks. They've been showing up at the dealer with about 2 qts. of lubricant in the rear differential, it's supposed to have almost 4 qts.
Most of us including me have found them low, even after you ask the dealer to check them. GM says it should be within 1/2 inch of the fill hole, and most here are just filling it to the hole which will take the 4 qts.
Crawl under there and check it...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
My dealer swore mine was checked and okay, but when I got under there, there wasn't any paint missing from the plug meaning it hadn't been checked and it was low...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
