Does anyone know what the capacity of the factory driving light circuit is? I am replacing the factory lights with some aircraft landing lights and was wondering if I can use this circuit or if I am going to need to do a seperate circuit.

how many watts are your landing light . my guess your proably gona have to use a relay to swich them on and off to avoid burnign up the factory wiring and add a inline fues to the new circuit to protect everything. its a prity simple circuit to do
post some picts up when you git them installd

Yeah, I figured that would probably be the case anyway, but never hurts to ask. I have done it on other vehicles before, but I guess I'm just getting lazy.

I'm looking to do the same thing. I plan to use a relay wired to the factory wireing....What lights are you going with?

The real deal man. If you go to Napa, they are 4509's. These are the same lights, just alot cheaper than the ones that have been re-boxed for aircraft use.

You'll need a relay for sure. I cheaped out and spliced in Walmart 55W lights. I had to redo one due to a short and while taping it up while on the wires were warm.

I believe these are the same as KC Highlighters - 150 Watts each.

That's kinda what I figured but never hurts to ask.

Well, I got em on. I ended up using a relay and tapped into the highbeam circuit for the trigger. Used 10awg wire everywhere too cause they are hungry little beasts. I'll post some pics tomorrow for you to check out. To the average joe, you wouldn't even know that the driving lights had been replaced......which is good when dealing with the D.O.T. 's here. And bright, WOW! I've had them on my other trucks too, but have been driving this one since March and forgot what it was like to have light like that! :ro) The brackets were a bit of a pita and had to do some creative massaging to get them aimed right but it worked out. If I did it all over I would build a custom bracket instead for more adjustability.
