From what I've read on this site, it seems that the OEM GM 6 Disc changers are plagued with all sorts of problems. However, I'm now having a problem with the changer in my 05 LLY that I haven't been able to find anything about on the forum.

I generally have the same six cds in the changer at all times because I listen to XM most of the time. Of these six CDs, none will play correctly in the changer. If I allow a CD to play all the way through without skipping tracks, it works flawlessly. But if i try to skip to a track, the CD player will refuse to play that track. I can then hear the laser moving back in forth inside the unit, and then about 5 seconds later it will eject the CD and give the Check CD message.

For example, say I want to go to DISC 4 then immediately try to go to track 9, it might play the track, it might not. It seems to be random when it decides to work, but most of the time it just spits the disc out. However, if I were to hold the seek button from the first track and continue to seek through all the songs and then release the button when I get to track 9, it works fine.

It happens with both Factory CDs and burned CDs, but primarily burned CDs(I've tried several brands). I had it at the dealer yesterday, they said the reprogrammed it and it works right now, but it still doesn't, anyone had similar problems?

I thought mine was screwing up, pulled the CDs out and they had gotten pretty dirty sitting in the changer for some reason. Cleaned them up, reloaded and they all play fine, except one that was burned which skipped some. Other than that, no problems. Might want to clean them and see if it helps.

Yeah, I tried that. Whats weird is that they work fine in my 03 XL Denali, but of course thats a different headunit? I'm going to take it back to the dealer, anyone have any other ideas?

Have you tried cleaning the lense in the unit?

Anybody with this same unit and year truck ('05) ever had the CD's "stick"? My unit had all 6 loaded and then tried to play number 1. Somehow it appears to have "stuck" with number 2, and it doesn't even show up on the display! I tried pushing every button I could, and then it said "initializing". Now it doesn't read that there are any CD's in it!

Somebody said that you could pull the number 10 (?) fuse, but I can't seem to find any indication of a number 10 fuse in any of the fuse panels. Any help? Thanks!

Don't know about number 10 fuse, but the fuse for the radio is in the box under the hood, 15 amp. It's in a group of 3 fuses toward corner of the box near the fender and the firewall, and is the one in that group closest to the front.

srode; Thanks, I did find and pull that one, but no luck! A buddy of mine had been to the dealership and mentioned my problem, and that is where the "number 10" fuse info came from. Since I couldn't find that, I did pull the 15 amp (several times!), with no luck. I was hoping this was something that had been dealt with by someone here, since I have read about problems with the 6 disc changer, just not this problem. Thanks again!
