: Seat memory and powered mirrors
Yamsi401 08-24-2006, 08:03 PM When I bought my LT3 2500HD the dealership replaced the standard powered mirrors with the powered towing mirrors. I noticed that the mirrors were not staying in place regardless of mirror preference settings (lower on reverse) whenever the seat memory was activated.
I took the truck in for service and was told that 1) the seat memory is not tied to the towing mirrors and 2) that the lower on reverse option cannot be masked out via a flash of the computer. I have not visited a production LT3 trimmed truck with towing mirrors to see if that option is present but one would think that a vehicle with seat memory would also be programmed to remember driver 1 and driver 2 mirror preferences regardless of what mirror was installed.
For that matter, would not favorite radio settings also be tied to memory? Driver 1 and driver 2 on the fobs, why have them if nothing is tied to them?
srode 08-24-2006, 08:52 PM The previous towing mirrors didn't remember position. Something about the type of motors that drive them weren't the right type. Might be the case with the new ones too ??
Grand Pop 08-25-2006, 07:31 AM While not the same mirrors my '03 2500 HD SLT Dura Max w/the optional heated electrochromatic mirrors does have memory that's tied into the FOP, and did have similar issues.
Due to bad grounds, bad harness, bad FOB commands, and bads wiring harness (from Mexico) my mirrors, heated memory seats, radio controls literally changed settings.....by themselves. Sometimes even when I closed the driver's door.
At Dealer's multiple times, and I guess by pure luck, they got the right harness, and connections. I learned not to take it back to that Dealer for electrical issues as when questioned ( didn;t like that) they had poor logistical trouble shooting ability, and were pretty much 'plug & players'.
dustinw 08-25-2006, 04:43 PM I have LT3 with towing mirrors. My mirrors don't adjust themselves ever, either from using the FOB or the presets on the door, or reversing.
On top of that my seats don't adjust via the key fob either, which I was under the impression would happen.
Grand Pop 08-26-2006, 06:59 AM Had both a '02 1500HD SLT & '03 2500HD which operating procedures were the same. FOB's can be customized for Driver #1, and Driver #2.
Do you also have steering wheel controls?
Perhaps later years were diffrent, but that wouldn't make sense to change the format. All my controls work via the DIC.

Looks like a job for serviceman!!! If you've programmed your seats according to the book and the fobs do not work there is a malfunction there.

Yeah, my presets for the seats work. 1 for me 2 for the wife. However even when I use my fob (number 1 on the back) to unlock the doors, the seat is still in the #2 preset.
FlyACL 08-26-2006, 03:51 PM Mine does the same thing. No change with the FOBs. My 03 didn't work like this. Seat, raido, mirrors, etc were all adjusted when you used FOB #1 vs. #2. Now with the new 06. Nothing. Kind of sucks...

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Starting in 2005, all full size trucks and utilities have had a change to the way driver personalization operates. Vehicles equipped with memory seats RPO AN3 will now only recall seat, mirror (DL3), and pedal (JF4) settings for driver 1 and 2 from the buttons located on the driver's door panel. The key fobs will no longer recall memory positions. The DIC will no longer display Driver 1 or Driver 2 like in previous years.
Radio presets, HVAC (CJ2) and DIC (UK3) setting are now set to the vehicle, meaning there is only one setting for both drivers.

No repairs should be made as this is normal operation.

I believe that with the tow mirrors you are to turn off the curbview assist feature with the steering wheel buttons for the dic or reflash the IPC to deleat curb assist.
FlyACL 08-26-2006, 11:46 PM Well that sucks.... Thanks for the info.... Take care...
outlander 08-29-2006, 02:25 AM Went thru all these symptoms as well...nothing we can do...and since my towing mirrirs vibrate anyway,i am going back to the stock mirrors so i can have the options i paid for and then i will use good old fashioned mirror extensions....
dustinw 08-29-2006, 12:05 PM So the next question, how hard would it be to make this work in the '05-06 trucks the way it does for the '03 & '04 trucks? I'm assuming there is a part missing & some sort of programming involved.

Mad4aMax 08-29-2006, 10:09 PM I am thinking that would be a trial & error procedure, Possibly programming the Driver door module, IPC & Passenger door module(it is the keyless entry reciever) as an '04 but I know it would not be that simple because the vehicle is an '06. Sorry I don't have a good answer, I mostly have experience in normal programming of modules as they were designed. When you program these modules it is not as simple as hooking up the Tech 2 & telling it to program this 2006 body control module as a 2003, their are normaly few options to choose from.
