My tranny guy just installed the Transgo Jr. kit yesterday in my truck. He has always been good with my trans work, but mostly with "old school" transmissions (turbo hydromatics). I don't think he has much experience with the Allison. I'm assuming he knew what he was doing, but he's only human too......

Now this could be completely normal and I just have to drive and make it relearn, but here are some things that I noticed.

Shifts are much firmer :ro), but one upshift and one downshift are EXTREMELY HARD :(. On the downshift (under normal driving), it will just about chirp the tires and things slide forward in the cab. I believe the hard shift is the same shift up and down. I really haven't been able to confirm but it feels like the 2-3 or 3-4 shift.

The other big thing I notice is when I put it in gear (i.e. Park to Reverse or Reverse to Drive) with my foot on the brake and the truck NOT moving, it feels like it "clunks" HArd into gear. It almost sounds like my old truck did with the gear locker in the rear with drivetrain slop (but I know it's not that).

Are these symptoms "normal". They probably are, but I just want to double check. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks.

They are not normal. Sounds like you have a sticky gain valve. If clearing TAPS do not fixe this I would pull the valve body and check those valves soon.

Mike, where is the gain valve? Weren't the valves that the transgo updated trim valves? Reason I ask is I wasn't the one to do the work?

Is there any online documentation? I might try doing this myself on Saturday. I'm ASSuming I pull the valve and clean (brake-kleen) and reinstall?
