: Transmission cooler update: need a little help guys
Mike L. 06-02-2004, 10:15 PM I need to know the measurement between the two cooler lines 2 inches below the cooler ( center to center). I have learned a lot in the last 2 weeks and am now working with Setrab ( I have 3 irons in the fire, want to be on top of things if someone drops the ball). The Setrab is probably the finest cooler in the world and I think I can do something with it. I don't care what year Duramax ( GMC-Chevy), model or year is. I am looking for measurements. I am hoping to have one in my truck this week. I have talked to 5 different dealerships and can't seem to get what I need. I ordered a new factory cooler for my truck for measurements; I am sad to say that this cooler made by Long is pathetic. I have put bigger coolers on Dodge minivans. Thanks for the help guys.

Horse Trainer 06-03-2004, 08:11 PM Mike - I have't forgotten. Looked at it this AM, but needed a different measuring device. Been hauling hay all day (and dodging the dot - a bit over weight), so am on my way right now.
Mike - Got it - 12 inches center to center. Stays that until they bend. Hauling today, with a cross wind, was running 200 - have had it set the overheat warning off once by not using T/H.Edited by: Horse Trainer
Texas Red Wagon 06-03-2004, 08:21 PM Mike,
Question do the 3500 and 2500's have the same cooler? what would be the prefered Temp? I never get over 190. Even pulling the boat in this Texas heat or is that still to hot?
Thanks Scott
Diesel Power 06-03-2004, 08:32 PM Mac that cooler reminds me of the VW Bus with the oil cooler strapped on the outside near the engine..

Mike L. 06-03-2004, 10:18 PM Thanks guys.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
Mac, if I did that to your Duramax or any other members, I would not be alive right now. I have come up with the 12 inches center to center on the lines. So far I have seen .630 on cooler line outer diameter ( which is five eigths) but I believe there are some early models with .500 cooler line outer diameter.(half inch).
Now, I have a problem and I hope one of you guys can help. I have found the cooler that I want, it's made by Setrab. The cooler will give me 93 sq inches of front(not including side tubes). The position of the fittings are 12 inches apart(perfect). Problem is, the Setrab cooler uses 22by1.25 fitting, and the Ally (original removable fittings must be used because of lines) are 22by1.75. Close, but no cigar. I am working on this and if I solve it, coolers would be ready in a couple of weeks. Any ideas? Thanks,
mike

What kind of temps are you running in your wagon.

Burner 06-03-2004, 11:10 PM I don't know if it's a good Idea or not.....but here it goes. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
You could put a quick connect system on your cooler. Then you could make a "flush kit" that would hook up to the quick connect sockets. Hey, at least we would have a way to pump out old fluid. http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

KTDURAMAX 08-02-2004, 12:03 AM Mike,
What's the latest on your Trans cooler.........I see 200* stop/go all the time here with 110-115* outside. Us desert rats need some relief...
Mike L. 08-02-2004, 03:22 PM Cooler is a go. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

KTDURAMAX 08-02-2004, 05:01 PM Are you selling them????
Diesel Dually 08-02-2004, 08:47 PM If so...where to order??? Price???
Mike L. 08-02-2004, 11:57 PM I gave the go ahead to build the cooler. I will get first finished prototype shortly, no adapters. I will then need to change brackets a bit since i am now running adapters. This will be a plug and play. One of our members that I talked to today called it a "one beer project", think it was ratlover. I like that.
mike
ratlover 08-03-2004, 09:20 AM That was me.....things get messy when they get over a 5 beer project. Figured it would be best to not see how many beers it took to get to the center of an allison. Chit woulda really went down hill fasthttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif
