: Pinion harmonic balancer?

This past weekend I spent a lot of time under the truck installing hitches, shocks, airbags and anti-sway bar. Although I had noticed it before, I got a good close look at the harmonic balancer on the pinion shaft.

Although the idea makes sense, this is the first diff I have seen with a harmonic balancer. Is this a Durmax-only item, a G80-only item, a crewcab-only item, or do all the trucks have these? I suspect only the 167" and longer Duramax trucks have these. Does anybody know?

You got me Frank, I saw it on mine and wonder how much that puppy will cost when it needs replaced?

I have never seen one on a drive shaft before. I'm sure they have been used, just not a common item.

My reg cab has one. At first I was like coolhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif Untill I figured it was some cost saving program to get rid of the need to balance it or something like that

Must be an 11.5" rear thing, as my '04 10.5" does NOT have this.

All my HDs have had it.

I also like the steel drive shaft now over the older aluminum ones.
