Some will say ain't worth it, over at TDP their project truck has them and have had good result with them, sort of your call lot of opinion both ways to gear or not to gear that is the question, I personally would not do it unless I were in need of a timing chain swap, if desired & actual timing on a scan tool match I'd wait until I was in need of it, but that's me.

Turbine Doc has said a bunch of it. Some people say it's the single best upgrade they have made. I changed my timing chain and gear set out at 155,000 miles. I already had a couple thousand laid out for maintaince and upgrades at the time so I opted for the chain and gears vs gear set. I figured the truck ran real well for 155,000 miles with chain and gears I figure if the truck went another 150,000 I would be VERY Happy, plus I saved over $200 going with the chain & gears.

I installed a set in my 94 Blazer at 65,000 miles. In addition to the -1.94 timing change, I do believe the phazer gear drive is a very good upgrade. I immediately noticed better throttle response and drivability, which was pi$$ poor prior to the upgrade. The engine also smoothed out a lot, especially above 2000 rpms. Bottom end also seemed snappier. I didn't capture mileage data for comparison so I really can't comment on that.
I will install another set on my 99 Sub. Just not looking forward to the task of swapping out the chain for the drive. I found it to be a PITA.
BTW, who has the best pricing on the drives these days?
